The Tractor Trailer’s Driver Flees Scene of 17 Paramus Accident

Paramus NJ, Two (2) minor injuries were reported following an early Sunday afternoon, 05/26, crash between a tractor trailer and an SUV on Route 17 southbound in Paramus that resulted in a downed utility pole and partial closure of Route 17 southbound. Paramus Police, Paramus Fire, and Paramus EMS responded to the incident. The tractor trailer’s driver fled the scene of the crash and was still at large late Sunday afternoon. Multiple tow trucks were required to remove the two (2) vehicles involved and the crash related debris. The Bergen County Hazmat Unit was summoned due to a crash related diesel fuel spill. Lane closures were expected to be in effect until sometime Sunday evening to facilitate replacement of the utility pole.

SUV Ends Up In the Woods Near Ikea Drive in Paramus

Paramus NJ, The adult male driver of a dark colored SUV lost control of his vehicle while exiting Route 4 eastbound at Ikea Drive in Paramus, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway and crash into a nearby wooded area, and a massive retaining wall. The incident occurred late Monday afternoon, 04/29. An adult female passenger in the SUV sustained a non life threatening head injury; two (2) children and the vehicle’s adult male driver were uninjured. Paramus Police and Paramus EMS responded to the mishap along with two (2) members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Regional SWAT Team (who just happened to be driving by the scene).

Highland Avenue in Parmaus Closed after Car Hits Utility Pole

Paramus NJ, a utility pole was snapped at its base after being hit by a Subaru Impreza in the 700 block of Highland Avenue, Paramus late Saturday afternoon, 04/27. The vehicle’s adult male driver walked away from the wreckage with the assistance of a police officer. He was evaluated on the scene by members of a Paramus EMS ambulance. Highland Avenue was closed temporarily in both directions between Bush Place and Fern Place. PSE&G’s Electric Division was notified about the damaged pole.

Ridgewood Not the Only Town in Bergen to Deal with a Disorderly Goat

Paramus NJ, looks like Ridgewood is not the only town to deal with a
disorderly goat. In the second in our series of “Goats of Bergen” the Ridgewood blog has learned that in 2015 the Paramus Police Department responded to calls of a disorderly goat headbutting a door in the Beech Lane area of town. Officers captured the goat who was located running in the roadway. The goat is pictured with Paramus Officer Jonathan Henderson. Assisting in the capture were Officers Christian Tsentas and Steve Nepola. The goat was turned over to Tyco Animal Control. Paramus Fire Responds to Vehicle Mishap on Route 17

Paramus NJ, No injuries were reported following a crash in which a 4-door Nissan Altima slammed into a retail establishment on Route 17 southbound in Paramus on Sunday night, 03/24. An engine compartment fire was triggered by the crash impact; it was quickly extinguished by members of Paramus Fire Department Engine Company #1. Damage to the store, The Loft Furniture Outlet, was cosmetic in nature only. A flatbed tow truck removed the wrecked & charred vehicle from the business’ parking lot. Paramus Police investigated the crash. No word at the scene as to whether any summonses were issued, or if any other vehicles were involved in the mishap.

17 Crash Takes Out Storefront in Paramus

Paramus NJ, No injuries were reported following a two (2) vehicle crash on Route 17 southbound in Paramus that sent a Subaru SUV sliding into a nearby storefront on Tuesday afternoon, 02/12.. Both vehicles were towed from the scene. Paramus Police handled the crash report.

Car Fire at Paramus Stop & Shop Leaves No Injuries

Paramus NJ, Members of Paramus Fire Department Engine Companies 1 & 3 extinguished an engine compartment fire in a Mercedes Benz sedan that was parked at 859 North Route 17, Paramus (Stop & Shop) on Thursday evening, 01/24. No injuries were reported. Paramus Police was also on the scene. The heavily scorched vehicle was removed from the scene by a tow truck.

Stolen Car Pursued by Multiply Police Departments in High Speed Chase Across Bergen

Twp. of Washington NJ, A vehicle reported stolen from Hillsdale early Thursday evening, 12/27, was spotted by a Ho-Ho-Kus Police patrol officer within minutes after a radio broadcast reporting the theft. A high speed pursuit ensued into Washington Township where the vehicle crashed into a utility pole at the intersection of Clinton Avenue and Washington Avenue. Following a short foot pursuit, one (1) individual who had fled from the crashed vehicle was apprehended in the rear of 639 Clinton Avenue, Washington Township. The suspect was transported by a Westwood EMS ambulance to New Bridge Medical Center for treatment of a non life threatening laceration to the head. Officers from Hillsdale Police, Paramus Police, Ridgewood Police, Westwood Police, and Washington Township Police were observed assisting Ho-Ho-Kus Police at the scene. The wrecked vehicle, a 4-door Honda Accord, was removed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck. The car had reportedly been left running with the keys in the ignition.

Medical Emergency Victim Rushed Hackensack Medical Center

Paramus NJ, Paramus Police and Paramus EMS units rushed to aid the driver of a passenger car who experienced a serious medical episode after he exited his vehicle on Paramus Road near Bergen Community College in Paramus. The victim had stopped to check an unsecured rear hatch, fell to the pavement and rolled under the vehicle’s chassis as the episode was occurring. He was transported to Hackensack University Center’s main campus by a Paramus EMS ambulance. A portion of northbound Paramus Road was closed while emergency crews worked at the scene.

UPDATE : Single Engine Plane Makes Emergency Landing on Paramus Municipal Golf Course

Paramus NJ, a single engine plane made an emergency landing at the Paramus Municipal Golf Course, 314 Paramus Road, Paramus late Sunday morning, 12/09. Three (3) occupants of the aircraft sustained non life threatening injuries during the landing and were transported by ambulances to local hospitals. No one on the ground was injured. Paramus Police, Paramus EMS, and Paramus Fire Company #3 responded to the incident.

Plane Makes Emergency Landing on Parmus Golf Course

Paramus NJ, the Paramus Police report that a small airplane just made an emergency landing at the Paramus Golf Course. 4 people on board 3 minor injuries. Emergency responders are on scene. Nobody was seriously injured. Paramus Foam Unit, HazMat and Rescue were on scene .

Car Hits Storefront on Route 17 North in Paramus

Paramus NJ, No injuries were reported following the crash of a 4-door sedan into the storefront of Capitol Lighting, 75 Route 17 North, Paramus on Tuesday evening, 11/27. According to Paramus Police Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg, who was on the scene, the sedan’s adult female driver lost control of her vehicle while attempting to make a U turn in the parking lot. The crash impact caused moderate damage to the building’s façade and scattered several lighting fixtures about a small area of the store’s interior. A Borough of Paramus building inspector was summoned to evaluate the structure’s integrity. The damaged vehicle was removed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck.

Paramus NJ , from the Paramus Police Department , Thursday, November 22, 2018, will mark the Twenty-Fifth anniversary of the line of duty death of Police Officer Vincent M. Brock. Officer Brock was killed in a motor vehicle accident while responding to a false 911 call reporting a shooting at the Garden State Plaza. He left behind his wife Diane and three children Timothy, Gregory and Lindsay.
