Ridgewood NJ, A home on Leonard Place in Ridgewood was surrounded by Ridgewood Police and Glen Rock Police officers armed with assault rifles on Saturday evening, 06/24. Two (2) Bergen County Sheriff’s officers were also observed at the scene. Leonard Place is completely blocked off to vehicular and pedestrian traffic. The circumstances surrounding the incident are currently unknown.

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Police report that on October 25 a Greenway Road resident reported a theft of property from the driveway. The victim reported an unknown person rifled through approximately fifteen bags filled with baby toys, clothing donations and furniture which were to be picked up by the Veterans. The value of the items removed was approximately $650.

Ridgewood NJ , Ridgewood Police report that a 31-year-old window Adam Broersma of Ringwood was charged with taking $30,000 worth of jewelry from the master bedroom of a home on North Murray Avenue.
Broersma gained access to a home on North Murray Avenue while working for AB Clean Windows, his family’s Ringwood-based company. A company that is used by many local residents .According to police the jewelry was reported missing from the master bedroom on Dec. 8.
After an investigation, police located some of the stolen jewelry at a jewelry store where Broersma was identified as the person who sold the items to the store, .. Ridgewood police said they recovered $25,000 worth of the stolen jewelry as a result of the investigation.
Broersma has been charged with theft of moveable property, a third-degree crime.

Wanaque police charge a man with possession of silverware stolen from Ridgewood Home

A Ridgewood woman whose home was burglarized will get to see the return of her silverware, police said, due to what transpired after officers pulled over a green Nissan Maxima for a reported cracked windshield on Friday, July 11 at 12:30 p.m.
The officers, Keith Spillane and Anthony Mule’, were assigned to a traffic detail on Interstate 287 North when they stopped the Nissan on Ringwood Avenue in Haskell and also stopped the car’s two occupants as they allegedly attempted to walk away.
Police Chief Tom Norton reports that a records check revealed arrest warrants for both the driver, Brian Trillo, 30, of Whippany, and the passenger, Emerald Griffin, 20, of Whippany.
As police searched the backpack that Trillo was carrying, they found that silverware, Norton said, which Trillo reportedly said belonged to his mother and they were going to sell.
During questioning at headquarters, Trillo confessed that the silverware in the backpack had been stolen from a home in Ridgewood while he was helping a woman clean out her home after he answered an Internet help-wanted ad, according to the chief.
Ridgewood police were advised of the findings and the Ridgewood woman was contacted to identify the silverware, said Norton.

Kitchen fire fills Ridgewood home with smoke

Ridgewood NJ, A fire that originated in the kitchen of a home located at 511 North Monroe Street in Ridgewood did little damage beyond destroying a microwave oven and adjacent cabinet, but filled the entire house with smoke. The homeowner and her child had safely evacuated the structure prior to arrival of fire department personnel; no injuries to first responders were reported. Ridgewood FD, EMS, and Emergency Services personnel all rushed to the blaze, which was reported via a 911 telephone call shortly before 6 PM on Monday. North Monroe Street was closed between Morningside and Fairmount Roads while the blaze was extinguished.
