Senior Sam Favieri started the scoring with an RBI sac fly and finished the game by pitching a perfect seventh inning, for the Maroons . Both Maroon runs scored on sacrifice flies. Favieri drove in David Kleiman, who led off the game with a single. Then later in the drama-filled sixth inning Anthony Stephan drove in pinch runner Dan Boucher toad the go a head run. Boucher ran for catcher Brian Skettini, who rolled an infield single between the mound and first, then went first-to-third on the pitcher’s throwing error.

Ridgewood scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning en route to a 10-7 comeback victory in front of a packed crowd in Demarest. The Maroons captured their first Bergen County Tournament title , making their first appearance since losing to St. Joseph in 1986.

As chronicled on this blog MetLife Stadium had been the home of many disappointments both on and off the field for the Ridgewood Maroons over the years ,but this time thanks to a strong defense it was a different tune.
With the offense struggling to gain its rhythm, the Maroons defense stepped up and forced a pair of turnovers deep in the Passaic Tech territory. The takeaways led to all of Ridgewood’s scores and the state championship.
The breaks went all Ridgewood surviving an extra point try to tie with 1:24 remaining on the clock and the 14-13 victory led to the first perfect campaign since 1956.The win also marked the fifth state sectional championship for the Maroons and the first since 2004.

Ridgewood ranked is No. 16 in the NJ.com Top 20, and the Maroons got at least some small measure of revenge on Friday night, as they topped Passaic Tech, 14-7, in a rematch of last year’s North Jersey, Section 1, Group 5 final.
Last year they beat the Passaic Tech Bulldogs in the regular season,only to lose to them in the sectional final, 27-0, a few weeks later.
Ridgewood’s win puts their regular season record to 8-0 and almost guarantees a spot as the top seed heading into this year’s playoffs.
The win leaves Ridgewood with just one game left at home against Paterson Eastside next week and one win shy of a perfect regular season.

Ridgewood was lead by Zach Feagles who had 20 carries rushing for 148 yards and two two-yard second half touchdowns.
Jack Barclay had a 26-yard TD run in the second quarter and Wylie Sherman kicked three first half field goals of 38, 42, and 32 yards and converted three extra point attempts for Ridgewood.
Drew Granski had 11 carries and rushed for 109 yards for Ridgewood.
Clifton’s Sadiq Pitts had a standout night with three catches for 66 yards .
