Ridgewood NJ, The Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) has given NJ TRANSIT approval to begin Revenue Service Demonstration (RSD) of its Positive Train Control (PTC) system, moving NJ TRANSIT one-step closer to meeting the federally mandated deadline of PTC certification by December 31, 2020.
Ridgewood N J, Senate Republican Leader Tom Kean responded to serious concerns about New Jersey Transit (NJT) that were raised in a new report by the State Auditor.
“Virtually every aspect of New Jersey Transit’s rail operations, including poor on-time performance, problems with safety upgrades, and badly maintained infrastructure were laid bare in the State Auditor’s report,” said Kean. “As I’ve said repeatedly, rail commuters deserve improvement from New Jersey Transit, not more delays and excuses.”

And what about the freight train hauling past your home all crazy hours of the night vibrating that building you will see. Hopefully I’ll take care of the rats on the tracks. NEW YORK – Amtrak and NJ TRANSIT today began their refresh of the Ticketed Waiting Area at New York Penn Station, the seating area for their customers at the Amtrak Concourse on the Upper Level and 8th Avenue side of the Station. As part of the refresh, customers can expect new furniture and fixtures, including communal tables and seats with electrical and USB outlets to charge devices, an upgraded ceiling complete with new LED lighting, a family area that will also feature a nursing mothers’ pod, the removal of the midpoint barrier, a new information desk and a second entrance offering easy access towards the 7th Avenue side of the Station.

Open Containers of alcohol are not permitted in any NJ Transit Station. In addition, all open containers of ANY liquid will not be permitted on board NJ Transit trains, buses and light rail vehicles. (Tuesday December 31, 2019 through the early morning hours of Wednesday January 1, 2020.) This policy will be enforced to help ensure the comfort, safety and security of all who utilize our system.

Ridgewood NJ, according to NJ Transit one person was fatally struck in Paterson by a Suffern bound Main Line train during the early hours of Saturday near Market Street Bridge in Paterson.
Ridgewood NJ, New Jersey Transit Police seize thousands of dollars in illegal drugs, and arrest distributor.
The New Jersey Transit Police have arrested Jimmy Romero, 40, of Haledon, N.J. for multiple drug-related offenses and seized approximately $4,000 worth of heroin and crack cocaine.
During the investigation, Transit Police District #3 officers Brian Lee, Christina Hicks, Sergeant Kristen Bivona and Efrain Pena-Pérez observed Romero distributing drugs from a vehicle at Paterson Station and at various parts throughout the City of Paterson. With the assistance of NJTPD District #2 and District #3 Anti-Crime Units, Mr. Romero was arrested without incident. The execution of search warrants resulted in the seizure of Mr. Romero’s vehicle, hundreds of wax folds of heroin, bags of crack cocaine and currency.
Mr. Romero was charged with multiple drug-related offenses including possession and distribution. He was lodged at the Passaic County Jail. Charges are mere accusations and the accused is considered innocent until proven guilty.
Ridgewood NJ, NJ TRANSIT presented local municipalities and community-based transportation groups with their first glimpse at autonomous, self-driving shuttles at the NJ Council on Special Transportation (COST) Expo in Edison. NJ TRANSIT hopes to test the self-driving shuttles as part of a highly innovative pilot program that fills the gap on first and last-mile transit options.
