“According to the latest mailing, “Ridgewood Water has been aware of PFOA and PFOS detections and has sought to educate our customers for years…” So shame on me that I finally realized that we have been paying to be poisoned. We have been and will be forced to pay this Village owned company for its contaminated and unsafe water.”

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Water is once again in violation of two New Jersey drinking water standards . Ridgewood Water exceeded the PFOS at 13 parts per trillion and PFOA at 14 parts per trillion mandated MCL safety limit. An MCL is the highest allowable concentration of a contaminant in water delivered to a user of a public drinking water supply. (Milligrams per liter)MCLs apply to public water systems, including public community and public nontransient noncommunity water systems. Public community and public nontransient noncommunity water systems are required to routinely monitor for contaminants for which MCLs have been established and to take any action necessary to bring the water into compliance with an MCL.

Ridgewood NJ, starting Sunday evening, 10/17 – 10/29 from 9pm – 4:30am, Ridgewood Water (RW) will perform hydrant flushing in the systems of all four municipalities served by the utility. This is an essential part of our system maintenance program because it helps us to continue to provide you with high-quality water service. In order to cleanse the system, we have to systematically open the fire hydrants to increase water flows. This allows us to “flush” any minerals and deposits from the pipes that may have accumulated.

Ridgewood NJ, Governor Phil Murphy today reaffirmed his commitment to address lead exposure in New Jersey and its harmful effects on public health and child development by signing a package of bills aimed protecting New Jersey’s families from lead poisoning. The legislation, which will require regular inspections for, and the remediation of, lead-based paint hazards in residential rental properties and require the inventory, replacement, and financing of lead service lines throughout the state within the next 10 years, will advance New Jersey as a national leader in lead poisoning prevention. In October 2019, Governor Murphy unveiled a comprehensive statewide plan to address lead exposure in New Jersey, in which exposure to lead-based paint and lead in drinking water were two key elements of the strategy.
