Dec. 9 Deadline: Planning Board Nears Decision on 54-Unit Townhouse Complex in Saddle River

Saddle River NJ, The long-running saga over the future of the property once known as the Rosie O’Donnell estate in Saddle River is approaching its climax. After three contentious hearings, the Planning Board has concluded expert testimony and public comment on the proposal to construct a 54-unit residential townhouse complex, including eight much-needed affordable units, at 115 East Allendale Road.

Affordable housing attorney Jonathan Drill advised the board that a final vote could occur at the next hearing scheduled for Monday, December 9th at 6 p.m.

SADDLE RIVER, NJ – A valuable piece of Saddle River’s 19th-century history has been rescued from potential demolition. A resolution passed by the Planning Board on November 3rd has released escrow funds to help finance the relocation of a historic 1800s Dutch colonial barn.

The barn is set to be moved from its current location at 4 Apple Ridge Road to a high-visibility, borough-owned property at the intersection of East Allendale and West Saddle River Roads—the site of a former Exxon gas station.

Algonquin Project Proposes Major Drainage Shift to End Neighbor Flood Fears in Saddle River

The contentious Algonquin affordable housing complex in Saddle River, spearheaded by developer Toll Brothers, reached a crucial turning point at the November 3 Planning Board meeting. Developers unveiled a new, comprehensive drainage plan aimed at resolving significant community concerns over water runoff and potential flooding of private homes.

The alternative solution, credited to Mayor Albert Kurpis at the prior October hearing and dubbed the “Mayor’s Solution,” is being praised by the Borough Engineer as “better than Lot 24.”

Saddle River Says developer’s affordable housing lawsuit is ‘Unenforceable’

Saddle River Planning Board Dismisses Court Ordered Affordable Housing Site Plan Over Variances

Saddle River NJ, the Saddle River Planning Board dismissed an application for one of its court ordered affordable housing site Wednesday evening .The developer Michael Kasparian insisted on a vote after he could not reach an agreement with the board over the height (17 ft) of a retaining wall  , one of nine variance and waiver points being debated that night.  Kasparian contends only three waivers are required and  said Thursday, “we will file a lawsuit to enforce our rights.”
