SADDLE RIVER, NJ — September 2, 2025 — A heated three-hour planning board debate over letters and a surprise lot addition derailed the latest hearing on the Algonquin Trail affordable housing plan, pushing the next session to October 7.
Saddle River NJ, in its response to a developer’s lawsuit appealing the Saddle River Planning Board’s denial of construction on one of its designated sites, the borough’s counsel responded that the default clause of its affordable housing settlement agreement is “unenforceable.”
Saddle River NJ, a resident of the borough has filed a lawsuit alleging the Saddle River Planning Board approved a 112-unit affordable apartment complex without allowing time for objector statements and witnesses.
Saddle River NJ, the Saddle River Planning Board dismissed an application for one of its court ordered affordable housing site Wednesday evening .The developer Michael Kasparian insisted on a vote after he could not reach an agreement with the board over the height (17 ft) of a retaining wall , one of nine variance and waiver points being debated that night. Kasparian contends only three waivers are required and said Thursday, “we will file a lawsuit to enforce our rights.”
