Lonegan Advocates ‘Prayer To The Classroom’, to stop school shootings

Ridgewood NJ, GOP Candidate (CD5)  Steve Lonegan is advocating returning  ‘Prayer To The Classroom’, to stop school shootings.  Lonegan says , “Prayer in school is the answer to gun violence.” Lonegan went on “It’s just so disturbing that society has deteriorated to this point morally that we are confronted with this.”

“Why does prayer scare liberals to death? Liberals took God and civics, love of God and love of country, out of schools, now they are surprised at the results? Prayer, love of God, love of country, and love and respect for each other are what we need.”

Lonegan quoted Ronald Reagan ,”If we ever forget that we are One Nation Under God, then we will be a nation gone under ”

Here is the original non-sectarian prayer being so strenuously objected to by the left: “Almighty God, we acknowledge our dependence upon Thee, and we beg Thy blessings upon us, our parents, our teachers and our Country.”

Reader says one would think it would take a miracle, or at least some extremely fortuitous set of circumstances going Lonegan’s way, to enable him to flip the seat back into republican hands

The fifth congressional district was recently gradually trending blue, out from under Garrett who was still showing up well for re-election every two years until he was ambushed in 2016 via a disingenuous (but admittedly politically successful) LGBT line of attack. He had all the integrity in the world (particularly compared to the average DC swamp denizen) and yet was ruthlessly trashed because he would not yield to pressure to deviate from his strong sense of traditional personal morality. Say what you want but Garrett was not going to do like Obama did and blatantly flip-flop on his belief regarding marriage only being between one biological man and one biological woman. It’s 2018 now, though, and what with the proportional advantage the Democrats have amassed in terms of affiliated registered voters in the 5th Congressional district (gubernatorial candidate Guadagno found voters living in this district considerably less inclined toward her message than did Christie when he ran twice), one would think it would take a miracle, or at least some extremely fortuitous set of circumstances going Lonegan’s way, to enable him to flip the seat back into republican hands.

Reader answers “Is this the same Steve Lonegan that was one of the most anti-Trump people during the campaign?”

"Steve" Lonegan

“Is this the same Steve Lonegan that was one of the most anti-Trump people during the campaign?”
Yes… but not what you seem to be implying.
.
Lonegan was pro Ted Cruz (that’s why he was “against” Trump), Now that Trump is in he fully supports him even though Trump wasn’t his first choice in the primaries.
Lonegan is a solid guy if you believe in Republican values like tax cutting, etc and he aligns with Trumps agenda.
.
If you are a supporter of the Trump agenda (which it seems like you are) then a Lonegan victory would help implement it.
If you are a McCain, McConnel, Murkowski, Graham, Flake type Republican then Lonegan might not be for you in the primary.
If you are a Democrat then it does not matter who the Republicans put up since you’ll be voting “D” anyway…

Hackensack NJ , Steve Lonegan picked up a key supporter in his quest to break his losing streak and pick up the CD5 House of Representative seat . State Senator Gerry Cardinale, (R-Bergen), today announced his support for conservative Republican Steve Lonegan in his campaign for congress in New Jersey’s Fifth Congressional District.

“Steve Lonegan has been a tireless champion of the Republican Party when no one else would step forward to take on the tough battles,” Sen. Cardinale said. “I’m pleased to be the first state legislator to announce my support for his campaign.”
In announcing his support for Lonegan, Sen. Cardinale said it is imperative that Republicans unite to take back the Fifth Congressional District in 2018.
“Prior to 2016, North Jersey had not elected a Democrat congressman since the Depression,” Sen. Cardinale said. “To defeat the incumbent, we need a candidate who is committed to the principles of the Republican Party, courageous in campaigning, and battle-tested. Not only is Steve Lonegan the only candidate in North Jersey who fulfills those criteria, his opponent, John McCann, comes up woefully short.”
Sen. Cardinale, who was first elected to the State Senate in 1981, has long been recognized as the most influential Republican leader in Bergen County and one of the most respected Republican leaders in New Jersey.
“Senator Cardinale has been at the forefront of every worthwhile conservative cause,” Lonegan said. “I’m honored to have earned his endorsement, grateful for his consistent service, and excited by the momentum behind our campaign to take back the Fifth District.”
Lonegan is the only candidate who has been endorsed by the National Republican Congressional Committee having satisfied significant qualifying criteria that only the most elite candidates nationwide are able to do.

Lonegan Calls Murphy, Democrats “Cowards” on Guns

"Steve" Lonegan

September 19,2017
the staff of the Ridgewood blog

Hackensack NJ,  5th District Republican candidate Steve Lonegan called Democrat gubernatorial nominee Phil Murphy a “coward” on gun-control and labeled his party “cowards” for following Murphy.  Lonegan’s words were in response to Murphy’s statements as reported in the New York Times and the Observer yesterday.

According to Observer reporter Christian Hetrick (August 24, 2017), Murphy said that he wants to a create a regional body made up of New Jersey and neighboring states to oversee a “coordinated effort to increase gun control.”  The Observer writes:  “Murphy likened the idea to the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, a cap-and-trade program for several northeastern states that New Jersey withdrew from under Gov. Chris Christie.”

“Apparently the Bill of Rights and the Constitution of the United States of America are not enough for Mr. Murphy,” Lonegan said, “Now he wants to create a new level of government in between the federal government and the states.”  Lonegan added:  “We do not need another level of government with a host of new bureaucrats to find ways to circumvent the Bill of Rights.  Americans are paying too much for government already. We should be consolidating government, making it smaller, not growing it.”

In the Observer story, Murphy said that if elected governor, he would sign a number of bills into law to make it more difficult to obtain a firearm for self-protection in New Jersey.  Lonegan noted that New Jersey is already one of the worst states in America for allowing people to defend their homes and families.

Lonegan said:  “How many more Carol Bownes must there be before Phil Murphy and the Democrats in the Legislature provide the people of New Jersey with the same protection they enjoy?”  Carol Bowne is the New Jersey woman murdered while waiting for a hand-gun permit for self-defense.  As Gannett reported (June 4, 2015):

” When Carol Bowne felt the threat of domestic violence, the petite hairdresser took steps to protect herself.  (She) got a restraining order against a former boyfriend, installed security cameras and an alarm system to her home and began the months-long process of obtaining a handgun, friends said.  But it wasn’t enough.  Bowne, 39, was stabbed to death in the driveway of her Patton Avenue home on Wednesday night.”

“Under New Jersey law, you cannot sue government for failing to protect you.  The police do a great job, but they can’t be everywhere.  If government doesn’t budget for enough police protection and they fail to arrive on time, you end up dead and people like Phil Murphy put on their sad face and tell you ‘thems the breaks’,”  Lonegan added.

Lonegan continued:  “What they won’t do is remind you that each and every citizen has primary responsibility over his or her personal safety.  Government won’t do that for you, so government shouldn’t take away your ability to preserve your life and well-being.”

“These phonies claim to dislike guns when in fact, they love guns and would not work in a building that wasn’t protected by men with guns.”

Lonegan reminded voters:  “In his last job, Phil Murphy was protected by United States Marines.  He and his fellow Democrats in the Legislature wouldn’t think of dismissing their armed-protection, but they are willing to sacrifice the lives of average citizens on the altar of some feel-good ideology.”

“The life of a single mom, employed as a manager in a fast-food restaurant, who doesn’t live in a wealthy community with plenty of police protection — her life is worth as much as Phil Murphy’s and those of his Democrat allies.  Unlike them, she must launder her own clothes, clean her own house, cook her own food, and rely on her own resources for self-protection.  They pay people for all those things.  Just because she is working class, that doesn’t mean that she shouldn’t have access to the same protection they pay people to provide for them.”

“Murphy is a coward and his party are cowards for making sure that their lives are safe, while trying to deny that right to everyone who isn’t rich enough to afford it.”

Steve Forbes and Steve Lonegan Team up , to Mend the Fed and Restore a Classical Gold Standard

September 3,2014
the staff of the Ridgewood blog

New York, NY , Steve Forbes and Steven Lonegan have joined forces and embarked on a mission to defend the liberty of the individual, which can only be protected when the wages, quality of life and savings earned through the fruits of one’s labor are preserved by the maintenance of sound currency.

According to the group ,there is no greater expression of private property than the preservation of value that is maintained in our currency. Our money is the measure of the value of our earnings and savings, our property. When someone’s property is taken without their consent, this amounts to an attack on this most fundamental right. Today’s monetary policy takes control of our money and hands it to unelected bureaucrats. Our mission is to return control of our money to the people, fix the dollar and restore sound money.

unnamed-1

Yesterday ushered in the launch of the Fix the Dollar campaign  down on Wall Street ,in a old Bank Vault turned bar on Trinity Place .

According to the two Steve’s the Golden Age of Equitable prosperity in America ended with the closing of the gold window by President Nixon in 1971 . The closing of the “gold window ” was the de-faco death of the American Dream .

The Bank of England calculates, If America had stayed with the gold standard your real income would be 50% higher. That would solve a lot of problems. Moreover, there are solid reasons to believe that America can make up for lost time and create the kind of sizzling economic growth that would raise wages across-the-board, making up in a decade what ground was lost over the last 40 years.

unnamed-2

The groups efforts will focus on not ending the Fed. FixTheDollar stands more for mending the Fed.

The Federal Reserve System was invented to work within the classical gold standard. What, then, is to be done? If the Fed follows “the golden rule” — a better version of the Great Moderation that led to the great job growth under Presidents Reagan and Clinton — we can restore the American Dream.

By restoring the classical gold standard, and if possible changing a few laws so as to permit competing currencies, America can create a climate of equitable prosperity that will generate tens of millions of good new jobs, end wage stagnation, restore a climate of opportunity wherein everyone – blue or white collar, of every age, race, and creed – can climb the ladder to affluence, balance the federal budget via economic growth, provide the resources to improve the natural environment and fix our decaying national infrastructure.

A Discussion with Steve Lonegan

A Discussion with Steve Lonegan

We’ve already heard from CD3 GOP contender Tom MacArthur, Save Jerseyans, so with only two weeks left to go in a particularly bruising battle to replace Jon Runyan in Congress, I was paid a visit on Monday afternoon by none other than MacArthur’s seasoned challenger, Steve Lonegan.

Steve and I had a friendly, casual but predictably honest chat touching on everything from his primary opponent and the value of “RINO” hunting to repealing Obamacare and… his love of salt water fishing. It’s likely the second-to-last best chance you’ll have to hear from the former mayor and AFP-NJ leader before June 3rd (there’s a radio debate set for later this week).

CD3 Primary: Ocean County Republican Establishment awards the line to MacArthur

CD3 Primary: Ocean County Republican Establishment awards the line to MacArthur

TOMS RIVER – The vaunted Ocean County Republican Organization tonight threw its support behind former Randolph Mayor Tom MacArthur in the 3rd Congressional District, cementing him as the establishment GOP pick in the Republican-leaning district and triggering a carpetbagger primary war.

Denied organization support, former Bogota Mayor Steve Lonegan – like MacArthur a newly energized seaside denizen down here – intends to run as a party renegade, he said.

On Saturday, the western Burlington half of the 3rd on Saturday likewise gave MacArthur the line, bolstering his chances in a June GOP showdown.

“Lonegan drove the Ocean and Burlington organizations together,” concluded a Democrat, who offered his insights hours before the convention. The Ocean portion of the district contains 54,267 registered Republican voters; the Burlington half 61,294.

Past primaries between the two machine operations in this district have been contentious. (Pizarro/PolitickerNJ)

Lonegan Calls on Congress to Act for Veterans

Lonegan Calls on Congress to Act for Veterans
Thursday, February 27th, 2014 @ 5:25PM

“An illegal alien can come into this country to have a baby and will be afforded all the welfare benefits available, immediately. It is an absolute disgrace that our returning war veterans are not afforded the same treatment when it comes to receiving the benefits they earned.”

WRIGHTSTOWN, NJ – Steve Lonegan, Republican Candidate for New Jersey’s 3rd Congressional District, stated at a press conference at McGuire Air Force Base today that “It’s about time for Congress to provide the benefits of honor and respect that our returning veterans have earned.”

Surrounded by a newly formed Veteran’s Advisory Committee of 16 American heroes, Steve Lonegan called the inaction of Congress “a blemish on our country.”

“An illegal alien can come into this country to have a baby and will be afforded all the welfare benefits available, immediately,” Lonegan said. “It is an absolute disgrace that our returning war veterans are not afforded the same treatment when it comes to receiving the benefits they earned.” Lonegan called on Congress to put partisan politics aside. “John Boehner and Nancy Pelosi must make this their number one priority,” Lonegan said.

Steve Lonegan stated that President Obama has broken his promise to our veterans, on when they would receive their benefits. Over 850,000 of these American hero’s have waited more than 125 days. “Its unconscionable,” Steve Lonegan stated.

Veterans have no stronger voice in Congress than Steve Lonegan – fighting for their rights, dignity and their benefits.

Steve Lonegan was the Republican nominee in the New Jersey special election for the United States Senate in 2013. He defeated national Democrat favorite Cory Booker by more than 8 points in the 3rd Congressional District. Lonegan continues to stand firmly on his bedrock conservative values of limited government, fiscal responsibility and individual liberty.

Steve Lonegan :Why I’m running…

Lonegan-5-283x237

Steve Lonegan :Why I’m running…

Monday, January 27th, 2014 @ 6:38PM

I am running for Congress for the same reason I’ve been involved in public life for so many years. You and I are witnessing – if not directly enduring – assaults on our individual liberties and freedoms on a scale once unthinkable.

If I’m elected, because of your hard work and support, I will go to Washington DC and defend and restore the constitutional government on which this nation was founded!

Our Nation has provided the guiding light of liberty for the entire world.

Just look at the onslaught to our liberties:

– Obama care has obliterated millions of individual health care

plans, driven up costs, reduced choices, and promises new waves of cancellations in the year to come.

– The NSA violated the public trust in secret and then overtly lied to the American people time and time again.

– The IRS has been used as a tool to harass and torment American citizens merely on account of their political views.

– Food Stamps are up a whopping 160 percent because of chronic unemployment.

This is just a sampling of hundreds of depressing statistics that have occurred under this administration.

Yet despite all of these abuses, the Obama Administration continues to pursue a staunchly liberal agenda marked by the mega growth and inefficiency of government bureaucracy.

This President has created an entangled web of job-crippling regulations and decreasing opportunities for Americans of all backgrounds. This must be reversed.

I will be blunt. I am a conservative Republican who has and will fight every day for the conservative principles on which this country was built.

I despise the machinations and harms created by a bloated out-of-control government.

I am opposed to big government and excessive and immorally high taxes – period.
I am prolife – period.
I support the Second Amendment – period.
I believe the family is the cornerstone of our society.

If you send me to Congress to be your voice, I’ll stand against President Obama, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi. I will tell them in no uncertain terms, that New Jersey’s 3rd Congressional District will not stand by and allow them to trample our Constitutional liberties and eradicate future opportunities for our children and grandchildren.
