Expect Strong Winds and Scattered Rain Fall Tonight

Ridgewood NJ, a strong frontal system will cross the region Tonight into early Friday morning. Strong to damaging wind gusts are expected ahead of and immediately in the wake of the cold frontal passage. The National Weather Service has issued a WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 11 PM THIS EVENING TO 10 AM EST FRIDAY. Southwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph expected. Impacting portions of northeast New Jersey, southern Connecticut. and southeast New York. From 11 PM this evening to 10 AM EST Friday. Strong winds will blow around unsecured objects. Scattered tree limbs, and a few trees and powerlines could be blown down. A few power outages are possible. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Ridgewood NJ, Public Service Electric & Gas, New Jersey’s largest utility, is monitoring the forecast and preparing for the strong winds, heavy snow and possible flooding Wednesday afternoon into Thursday. These conditions may cause tree limbs to break and pull down wires, causing power interruptions. PSE&G has a full complement of staff ready to respond, has performed system checks on critical transmission and distribution equipment, and performed logistics checks to ensure the availability of critical materials, fuel and other supplies.

Ridgewood NJ, A Volkswagen Jetta was just one casualty of a fast moving rain/wind storm that swept through Northwest Bergen County at approximately 7 PM on Sunday, 05/15. Electric service to a home at 428 George Street in Ridgewood was severed when this large tree limb fell. Fallen tree limbs were also reported in neighboring Glen Rock and Hawthorne.
