Ridgewood NJ, an AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO MIDNIGHT EDT THURSDAY NIGHT… The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection has issued an Air Quality Action Day for the following counties: Bergen, Passaic, Hudson, Essex, Union, from midnight Tonight until midnight EDT Thursday night. An Air Quality Action Day means that Fine Particulates within the region may approach or exceed unhealthy standards. An Air Quality Action Day for Particulate Matter (PM2.5) has been declared for Thursday, June 29th. Sensitive individuals, including those with heart or lung disease, the elderly, and the young should limit strenuous activities and the amount of time active outdoors. Levels of fine particulates will remain elevated in the unhealthy for sensitive groups category statewide on Thursday due to residual Canadian wildfire smoke. Trenton NJ, Senator Steven Oroho and Senator Joe Pennacchio will introduce legislation protecting the right of New Jerseyans to buy and use gas stoves and appliances.

“We can’t let President Biden or Governor Murphy ban affordable energy choices while New Jersey families are struggling with soaring prices and inflation,” said Oroho (R-24). “We certainly don’t need Democrats in our kitchens dictating how we cook our dinner. It’s big government overreach that we need to stop.”

New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection : West Nile Virus

Ridgewood NJ, from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection , with reports of West Nile virus illnesses in people at a record level and persistent warm and rainy weather, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and New Jersey Department of Health are urging property owners to take steps to reduce mosquito populations and to protect themselves against the risk of mosquito-borne illnesses.

Both agencies are also working coordinating with officials in Bergen County to continue monitoring, tracking and spraying efforts as well as public education. The county recently experienced two West Nile-related deaths.

Mosquitoes can breed even in the smallest amount of water. Dump all water that collects in your back yard to reduce mosquito risks!

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection has issued an air quality action day for the following counties…

Eastern Bergen…Eastern Essex…Eastern Passaic…Eastern Union… Hudson…Western Bergen…Western Essex…Western Passaic…Western Union.

An Ozone Action Day has been declared! Ozone is forecast to reach the unhealthy for sensitive groups category across New Jersey due to hot and humid conditions with adequate sunshine. Sensitive individuals including the very young, the elderly, and persons with respiratory diseases such as asthma, should avoid strenuous outdoor activities during the afternoon and early evening hours.
