Reader says ,”Deliver subpar services at extraordinary costs long enough and the masses will accept that normal “

Ridgewood Village Hall theridgewoodblog.net 17

Deliver subpar services at extraordinary costs long enough and the masses will accept that normal and attack those who expect excellence. At 40k a year taxes I expect more. As an example it is actually now cheaper for us to get a non resident glen rock train station sticker and park there

Reader says , “if you can fine homeowners for creating a hazard and no parking the village should be held to a least the same standard”

2018LeafPickupFlyer.rev .31 1

The village schedule had the leaves being picked up before the Thanksgiving holiday. Most of the houses followed directions and had leaves in the street as per the rules severely reducing street parking and restricting car traffic. They are all still there .
Many folks had visitors over the holiday who had no place to park as the village missed all of their published dates. If a homeowner caused this mess he would be fined, I understand the frustration. Why publish a schedule if it can be easily changed.? The poster is correct that if you can fine homeowners for creating a hazard and no parking the village should be held to a least the same standard.

Reader asks , “Can we get the landscaper fees reimbursed when the town does not come close to meeting their own published schedules? “

leaves3_theridgewoodblog

Can we get the landscaper fees reimbursed when the town does not come close to meeting their own published schedules? Weather events happen, build some contingency in the schedule or a recovery plan. This is not rocket science.
The town missing dates is ignored, if a resident does it they get a hefty fine. Town missing dates requires added resident efforts and or landscaper costs. It also creates a driving hazard for extended periods of time
For us, this is our last winter, Ridgewood has beat us at every level from leaves to parking fees, to obscene school costs, and just amateurs running the programs that are supposed to serve the residents. Too bad

Reader asks , “$500K golden toilet anyone?”

"Golden Toilet" by Maurizio Cattelan retrospective at the Guggenheim

So far we have about $13mn in debt obligations related to parking garage bonding’s… given the historical pattern of delays, expensive ‘change orders’, and cost overruns associated with any project the Village has financed ($500K golden toilet anyone?), my guess is this will come in over $20 million and run at an operating loss of more than $1 million annually. And that’s without ‘coin boy’ and his enablers stealing our quarters. All this, just as interest rates spike. It adds up to more financial lunacy from the Village, and taxpayers get screwed again.

Reader Worries Ridgewood’s AAA Credit Rating Could be At Risk

VillageHall_floods_theridgewoodblog

file photo by Boyd Loving

Based on previous building projects managed by the Village ($500K Golden commodes anyone? ) this garage project will be delayed repeatedly, suffer numerous expensive “change orders”, and likely cost $20+ million all in by the time its ready (40% of annual municipal budget). It will never pay for itself, guaranteed. Right as interest rates spike and the Village’s S&P AAA rating on our municipal debt is downgraded. Can you say large municipal debt and interest expense increases?

Reader says , “We have reached the pinacle of decades of mismanagement regime after regime”

clock

We have reached the pinacle of decades of mismanagement regime after regime.
Look behind the curtain..developers and other political
hacks have been driving the bus as far as Misprioritization
of the common Taxpapers needs vs the money people who see ridgewood as the new Englewood or Montclair with fields of condos and associated costs related to any fantasy transit village conversion, so that the realtors and developers can pick the towns assets clean down to the bone .Leaving the massive debt servicing to the home owner families with mortgages and kids in local Schools for years ahead
Realtors love the churn..developers love the chaos ..
Parking debt public obligation will be unsustainable ..but by then the developers will have sold to the REITS and moved on with
our futures in their greedy pockets ..Interest rate and taxation rising rates add more fuel to the fire ..ps pave cottage place parking lot…have you no shame VC .?
