West Point NY, on Monday morning Colonel Patrick Callahan and members of the New Jersey State Police command staff traveled to West Point to lay a wreath at the grave of H. Norman Schwarzkopf, a West Point graduate, our founder, and first Colonel.

Jersey City NJ, earlier this week, U.S. Senator Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) held a celebration honoring 18 bright, young New Jerseyans, who he nominated and were all accepted this year into the four U.S. service academies. The nominees were joined by their family, friends, and the academy screeners who recommended them for nominations. The ceremony took place in the senator’s Jersey City office.

Ridgewood NJ, Stephen Kalish, former Army Officer and a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, presented the Dwight D. Eisenhower Leadership Award on behalf of the West Point Society of New Jersey, an organization of graduates and friends of West Point who live in New Jersey. Each year, the West Point Society of New Jersey sponsors the Dwight D. Eisenhower Leadership Awarded at approximately 100 high schools throughout New Jersey.

Ridgewood NJ, Stephen Kalish, former Army Officer and a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, presented the Dwight D. Eisenhower Leadership Award on behalf of the West Point Society of New Jersey, an organization of graduates and friends of West Point who live in New Jersey. Each year, the West Point Society of New Jersey sponsors the Dwight D. Eisenhower Leadership Awarded at approximately 100 high schools throughout New Jersey. The purpose of this award is to recognize an exceptional high school junior who excels in the areas of academics, athletics, community service, good citizenship, and leadership. The awardee is selected by the principal and staff of the school. The award includes a portfolio with a formal certificate of recognition for the student and a display plaque for the school. Mr. Kalish read through the previous awardees before announcing this year’s recipient, Bryan Chan. Bryan has been on the honor roll every semester of his tenure at Ridgewood High School. He is a member of the National Honor Society and the Spanish National Honor Society. He was the class president for both his sophomore and junior years. He was the captain of his freshman and junior varsity soccer team. He is president of the DECA club and is a peer counselor. Outside of school, Bryan volunteers with the Our Lady of Mount Carmel youth group and the YMCA. He has also been a shamrock soccer coach. Congratulations, Bryan.

West Orange NJ, The West Point cadet killed when a military training vehicle overturned during training exercise has been identified as Cadet Christopher J. Morgan, Class of 2020, of West Orange.
Sr. Cadet Chris Morgan of West Orange is identified by the Army as the fatality in Thursday’s crash at West Point. Morgan, 22, was a Law and Legal Studies major, and a recruited athlete who was a standout member of the Army Wrestling Team set to graduate in 2020

Ridgewood NJ, RHS junior Claire Andrews is the recipient of the West Point Dwight D. Eisenhower Leadership Award. The program was created to recognize high school juniors who exhibit exceptional performance and potential in academics, athletics, community service, and leadership.
“The Dwight D. Eisenhower Leadership Program recognizes high school juniors who exhibit exceptional performance and potential in the areas of academics, athletics, community service, good citizenship, and leadership. Students selected to receive the award are awarded a copy of Building Leaders the West Point Way by Major General Joseph P. Franklin, U.S. Army (Retired) and a letter of recognition from the West Point Society of the Lehigh Valley, as well as an invitation to participate in a Leadership Awards Recognition Day at West Point.”
