Northvale NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of ALEX WHEELER (DOB: 8/12/1988; married; logistics officer) of Portland, Oregon on sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child charges. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Northvale Police Department under the direction of Chief Howard Ostrow.

On Thursday, September 1, 2022, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit was notified of the alleged sexual assault of a child. An investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Northvale Police Department revealed that ALEX WHEELER sexually assaulted the child, who was between the ages of 16-18 years old, on multiple occasions in Northvale, NJ.

On Tuesday, October 18, 2022, as a result of the investigation, a detective from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office travelled to Portland, Oregon with a detective from the Northvale Police Department and apprehended ALEX WHEELER with the assistance and coordination of the Portland, Oregon Police Department under the direction of Chief Chuck Lovell, and the United States Marshals Service, District of Oregon. WHEELER was charged with second-degree sexual assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2c(3)a, and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a, and lodged at the Multnomah County Detention Center (Oregon) pending extradition to Bergen County, NJ.

Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and he would like to thank the Northvale Police Department, the U.S. Marshals Service, and the Portland, Oregon Police Department for their assistance.
