Ridgewood NJ, Italian American One Voice Coalition reports that Congressman Peter T. King of New York 2nd District issued an official letter to the National Education Association (“NEA”) stating that the NEA’s recent vote against Columbus Day:

“…is of tremendous concern to myself and my Italian American constituents, who rightly feel the National Education Association has minimized and insulted the Italian American community.”

He continues:”…instead of working with organizations like the Association of Italian American Educators and the Italian American ONE VOICE Coalition to create a more equitable solution, the NEA ignored the repeated concerns and in doing so, irreparably harmed a community that serves as vital components of the American mosaic.”

He goes on to implore the NEA to rescind its vote against Columbus Day – as the IAOVC and all of our Task Force organizations have been demanding for the past several months.

Italian American One Voice Coalition went on , “We sincerely appreciate Congressman King’s outstanding support of IAOVC’s effort and for his excellent support of all Italian Americans! Bravo Rep. King!!!
Why don’t you join with us at IAOVC and thank Congressman King for his strong support – pete.king@mail.house.gov
