GLEN ROCK, N.J. — A Bergen County family escaped uninjured early Thursday morning, August 13, after a fire broke out at a residential home on Hanover Place amid local storm activity.
At approximately 2:32 a.m., Glen Rock police officers and volunteer firefighters were dispatched to 37 Hanover Place following reports of a structure fire. Responding police officers arrived on the scene first and took immediate action, shutting off a nearby gas line to manage the blaze until fire crews arrived.
Upon arrival, the Glen Rock Volunteer Fire Department confirmed a working house fire and immediately initiated fire suppression operations. Supported by mutual aid companies from neighboring Bergen County communities, firefighters rapidly brought the blaze under control and fully extinguished it.
Residents Safely Evacuated
All residents were safely evacuated from the residence prior to the fire’s spread, and authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported among residents or emergency responders.
Investigation Underway Following Regional Lightning Strikes
Numerous lightning strikes had been reported across the region leading up to the 2:32 a.m. call. However, local officials have not yet confirmed whether a direct lightning strike ignited the structure.
The official cause of the blaze remains under active investigation by Glen Rock Police Fire Investigator Sgt. Greg Carter and local authorities.
