Bergen Community College Paramedic Science Program Receives the National Conference on EMS “Director’s Award”

Paramus NJ,  with certification exam outcomes exceeding the statewide average, Bergen Community College paramedic science program students have secured the National Conference on EMS “Director’s Award” for the institution. More than 99 percent of Bergen paramedic science students pass their certification and licensing exams compared with 96.7 percent of students across the state. Professor Joanne Piccininni leads Bergen’s paramedic science program, which features a team of two full-time and 16 part-time faculty members.

NJ Assembly Passes Resolution Establishing Korean American Day in New Jersey

Trenton NJ,  twenty-one women, 25 children and 56 able-bodied men. All were Korean by birth; some had Japanese passports. They came from the port city of Incheon, Korea to Nagasaki, Japan, and on Dec. 29, 1902, boarded the RMS Gaelic, a passenger and cargo liner headed for Honolulu. Sixteen days later, Jan. 13, 1903, they arrived on the island of Oahu to work on the sugar plantations.

Reader Says Ridgewood School Should Not Be Closed For The Lunar New Year

Ridgewood NJ, Chinese Americans should obviously be free to celebrate the Lunar New Year, and take an excused school absence, as should any other American who wishes to celebrate this day and originates from a nation that recognizes it. And when learning about other cultures, American schools should teach American children a bit about the holiday and its significance, as they should about many different nations’ and religions’ traditions, holidays, and festivals, and the importance of respecting people from different cultures. We could all benefit from that. However, the Lunar New Year is not an American holiday, nor should we pretend that it is.
