Unoccupied Car Rolls into Raymond’s Restaurant in Ridgewood’s Central Business District

Ridgewood NJ, an unoccupied Toyota Yaris rolled away from its parking spot in downtown Ridgewood early Monday afternoon, 10/09, and struck another vehicle before slamming into a busy outdoor dining area at the Raymond’s Restaurant. Thankfully, no one was injured in the freak accident, and damage was limited to a table, some chairs, and an outdoor flower box. Neither the Yaris nor the vehicle it struck were badly damaged; both were driven from the scene. Ridgewood Police issued one (1) summons in connection with the mishap. Ridgewood Fire Department and a paramedic team responded to the incident as a precaution. Two (2) restaurant patrons were evaluated by EMTs; both refused medical attention.

Passaic County Health Department Employee Extricated from Crash in Ridgewood

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood firefighters used a battery operated hydraulic rescue tool to extricate a Passaic County Health Department employee from her official vehicle after it was struck by a Jeep at the intersection of Linwood Avenue and Walthery Avenue, Ridgewood on Sunday night, 10/08. After being struck on its driver’s side, the health department SUV spun out of control and slammed into a utility pole. An ambulance transported the driver, whose injuries appeared to have been non life threatening in nature, to The Valley Hospital. The heavily damaged SUV was towed from the scene; damage to the Jeep was limited to its bumper and it was driven from the scene on its own power. Ridgewood Police investigated the crash.

Hackensack NJ, Starting this November, no owner or operator of a recreational vessel less than 26 feet, including rowboats, canoes, kayaks, and stand-up paddleboards shall permit its operation between November 1st and May 1st, unless each person on board such vessel is wearing a securely fastened United States Coast Guard-approved wearable personal flotation device of an appropriate size while such vessel is underway. A person inside the cabin of a cabin vessel shall be exempt from this requirement.

Driver Extricated from Car in Route 208 Crash in Hawthorne

Hawthorne NJ, Hawthorne  firefighters used hydraulic rescue tools to extricate the driver of a Nissan Pathfinder that was involved in a two (2) vehicle collision on Route 208 northbound near Utter Avenue on Saturday afternoon, 10/07. Following the successful extrication, the victim was transported by a Hawthorne EMS ambulance to a local hospital. Multiple individuals in the other vehicle involved complained of back pain and were also transported to a hospital for treatment. Hawthorne Police investigated the crash.

Ridgewood Home Sustains Heavy Damage From Tree Limb Fall

Ridgewood NJ, a single family home located in the 300 block of Wastena Terrace, Ridgewood sustained heavy damage to its roof when a large tree limb fell early Saturday afternoon, 10/07. This was the second time in 2 1/2 years the same home was struck and heavily damaged by a falling tree branch. No injuries were reported in the latest incident. Ridgewood Police and Ridgewood Fire Department personnel rushed to assist the homeowners. A municipal building inspector also responded.
