  1. Let me guess….she wasn’t wearing any reflective clothing….?

  2. Probably not. But people please don’t just walk out into the road with out looking both ways.
    Amazing .

  3. Pedestrians have the RIGHT OF WAY when crossing the crosswalk. No exceptions! The driver is guilty!

  4. It’s main road. Pedestrian should not just expect the driver to stop. Most of the time with low lights in this area, the pedestrian is not visible until the driver is too close.
Both driver and pedestrian need to be careful.

  5. Needs a light devise w flashing lights in winter

This is the LIBRARY KINGS CROSSWALK

VERY DANGEROUS WITH ACTIVE DRIVEWAYS KINGS ETC MALL

  6. Bruce – you are wrong . . . pedestrians do NOT have the right of way in a controlled intersection. The the signal takes primacy for the right of way. In the case of the crossing at Maple by the library/Kings, the pedestrian would have the right of way.

  7. Hey Bruce you have a lot to say. Are u. Telling your kids to just walk into the road! We hope not. I teach my kids to look both ways before walking at all locations. It’s a matter of common sense.

  8. That crosswalk is a deathtrap.

  9. Ironically the Kings side of the pedestrian crosswalk has a lot of elevation that might permit an innovative sky bridge
over Maple..outside of a red light installation that would back up traffic endlessly and likely be in itself a hazard maker ..since the elks club site will be developed anyway
the traffic planners should look for an innovative longer
term solution to this unregulated cross walk and perhaps the county or state might contribute to a Possible New PED overpass between Kings area and the entry to the library .

  10. Even if you look both ways, this can happen to any of us.

Anonymous: Do you wear reflective clothing every single time you cross a street?
Stop and Look: Were you actually there to see whether they stopped and looked or not, or are you just passing judgment by assumption?

Bottom line? Bad things and accidents can happen to any of us. No one needs added negativity in this world. I’m sure it was horrible for both the pedestrian and the driver.
