Ridgewood NJ, a Superior Court judge ruled on Friday that a Midland Park postal worker who twice fled a deadly hit-and-run accident in Ridgewood will serve 364 days in county lockup.
Rafael Ramos stood quietly in a Bergen County courtroom Friday after pleading guilty in the 2018 roadway death of Edward Rao, a Ridgewood real estate agent.
Ramos, 48, claimed to police at the time that he drove “over something” on West Ridgewood Avenue , and returned to find the 54-year-old Rao lying in the street. Ramos spoke with police at the scene, but left again without mentioning his role in the collision. He was arrested a week later.

sad that he only got 364 days in jail.. or should I say 364 nights as he will be allowed to go to work and I guess drive there.
Wow he got a great Lawyer.
1 year in jail for killing someone? That is a slap on the wrist and is WRONG. Can only hope he gets some jailhouse justice…

On another planet with a 3000 pound weapon under their unattended control ..many staring up at kids in cross walks. Ill send this text quicky its such a long red light…..
I was hit and run on a bicycle in Glen Rock NJ, in broad daylight.
But, even though my rear view mirror, and my seeing it was an obviously texting driver(may as well be reading a book)and diving off my bike, seconds before the CRIMINAL struck it, saved my own life – I didn’t dare bother reporting the incident to the GRPD.
Their corrupt (2012) police department and rogue, pedophile cop Eric Reamy probably would have tried to arrest me for “littering” the remains of my mangled bicycle on the shoulder of Lincoln Ave. But, that’s a whole other blog.
