Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Police issued three (3) summonses in connection with a Wednesday afternoon, 06/28, single vehicle crash at the intersection of Fairfield Avenue and Kensington Drive, Ridgewood. The adult female driver of a VW station wagon reportedly mistook a pedestrian sidewalk for a roadway and ran head on into a street sign and tree. No injuries were reported by the driver, who was the lone vehicle occupant. A flatbed tow truck removed the wrecked vehicle from the scene. The question now arises under the new shade tree policy who pays if the tree is lost?

  1. Boyd has been busy this week…

Maybe the huge, gaping potholes on Fairfield caused this driver to swerve and wind up on the sidewalk…?

  2. They repaved that part of Fairfield last year.
3 months ago, the dug up a 6 foot wide section on Kensington from curb to curb.
This was also done to 2 other streets near Kensington.
I thought they were originally put concrete instead of asphalt as they did on a street connecting the Travell school

  3. I drive by this intersection everyday and can’t see how someone could mistake the sidewalk for the street.

  4. Should be much more police enforcement in the village, concentrate on speeders. Almost hit twice this morning in the lawns area of town.

  5. Slow down

  6. Same as the mess on Bogert Ave. the woman who wanted to fix that mess was right. My town has sidewalks and this town doesn’t in too many places to count. I grew up here and I can’t get over how this is. Put in sidewalks. None of this silly half fixes. These streets are dangerous.

  7. Some questions which might provide insight to possible cause:

    1) Age of driver?
    2) Was GPS engaged?
    3) Was medical marijuana involved?

  8. Text text texting on heaven’s door

  9. slow down and put the dam cell down.

  10. This says there WAS a sidewalk.

  11. 2:35…there was a sidewalk there. Not having a sidewalk wasn’t the issue. Being a bad driver and not paying attention unfortunately happens way too often.

  12. 4:47:
Why would medical marijuana have anything to do with this? You obviously have no idea what you’re talking about. It’s driver error, clear and simple.
