Well, well. It would appear that the previously “alleged” romantic relationship between two individuals who served on the Ridgewood Village Council for four consecutive years together can now be classified as a “confirmed” romantic relationship.
The couple was recently captured on Village Hall mounted surveillance cameras walking side by side around Veterans Field, and one of their personal automobiles has been observed parked on a regular basis on a street in front of the other’s residence, well into the late evening hours. Yes; they are consenting adults, entitled to seek emotional happiness and physical pleasure in any legal way they so desire.
However, were Ridgewood voters duped? Did this romantic relationship exist at the time they were elected to office? If so, why wasn’t it disclosed prior to Election Day? If the relationship did not exist prior to Election Day, when did it begin? And regardless of when the relationship began, what impact did it have on official decisions rendered by the Village Council on which they jointly served?
Now that everything is out in public, it’s a big slap in the face to Ridgewood’s voters. The two lovers are strutting around the Village with big smiles on their faces and nothing is being done about it. Voters, who were duped, are shaking their heads in disbelief and are wondering what would have happened differently if the romantic relationship had been disclosed.
It’s time for action. An official investigation to determine whether there was any official misconduct, conflicts of interest, and/or ethics violations on the part of anyone who served on the Village Council during those four years is definitely in order. The time for this investigation to begin is now.
