Public outcry following Ridgewood Mayor’s own Facebook disclosure about her vaccination status

Ridgewood NJ, an August 20, 2021 Facebook post by Ridgewood Mayor Susan Knudsen, in which she posted a photo of herself receiving what some believe to be her first COVID-19 vaccination on that date, has prompted an outcry among many residents, including two (2) who lashed out at her about the issue during Wednesday night’s in-person Village Council Public Meeting.

The Mayor did not immediately respond to public comments made by both Mr. Matthew Lindenberg and Mr. Hans Lehmann that suggested she had “violated” Village policy by entering Village Hall as an unvaccinated individual without wearing a mask, and she had behaved in a “reckless manor” by attending meetings maskless with members of the public present who were unaware of her vaccination status.  Mayor Knudsen was not wearing a mask at anytime during Wednesday night’s televised meeting.

If the Mayor did indeed receive her first COVID-19 vaccination on August 20, 2021 at the Village’s initial “Back to School” vaccination clinic, she would be scheduled to receive her second dose today, September 9, 2021 during the clinic’s follow-up event.

Several Facebook posts on the “Ridgewood Moms & Dads with Free Speech” and “It Takes a Ridgewood Village” pages have also been critical of the Mayor with regard to her seeming refusal to wear a mask while attending official public meetings and at other events where members of the public have been present.

  2. Big deal. Vaccinated people carry the virus as well.

  4. Mayor Knudsen’s arrogance is mind boggling. How the hell dare she expose everyone she meets to her unmasked face!?! She should be recalled. I am furious about her blatant ignoring of the rules. To hell with her.

  5. Well wash your hands.

  6. She suffered from Covid before, so she has antibodies. Vaccination is effectively a booster.

  7. Some people should take a close look at themselves. They have been made to believe absurdities and are getting dangerously close to the point where they can commit atrocities.

  8. No story here? You must be joking. She lied to the public.

  9. Yes, the mayor already had it. It is also common knowledge that one of her sons had it too. So they should definitely know better than to go around unvaccinated. People who have had the disease are not immune.

  11. No story here? She is violating the mandate on our own village hall doors

  12. Amazing. The bull shit that comes from village Hall. That’s why no one trusts them anymore.

  14. Do we know if every business owner in town is vaccinated??? Do we know if every waiter in town is vaccinated???? I would be more worried about this than the mayor that has very limited close interactions with large groups

Is every council person and everyone on the Dias vaccinated?

Look at all business owners that DONT wear masks especially those dealing with large groups at a time.

  15. When did she have Covid? Antibodies only last a short time according to CDC.

  16. I guess she can’t eat inside of its Greek to me until she presents the proper documentation.

    24
  17. Any immunity from getting COVID is believed to be limited to about 3 months. It has been longer for her. And anyway, the CDC’s mask guidance does not provide an exception for people who were previously sick, it says that all unvaccinated people should mask up indoors.

  18. Don’t distract from the point. This is not about businesses in town. This is about the mayor defying the mandate posted on village hall doors.

  19. This is not about waiters. This is not about stores in town. This is about Village Hall and our disgraceful dishonest mayor

  21. It’s amazing you walking to full establishment in the village and some people are not wearing gloves or masks. The Board of Health need to do an inspection, and can you imagine what’s going on behind the scenes that we don’t see without food.

  23. It’s the System how they operate. A lot of bullshit going on. That’s why I don’t make a move without my attorney.

  24. Multiple studies show natural covid antibodies remain and protect 7-9 months. If it’s true the Mayor had covid ( who knows) her physician would recommend the timing of a vaccine. There are conflicting reports about when to vaccinate previously infected patients.
The Mayor may have antibodies now combined with a booster providing the powerful hybrid immunity from all variants. Read the most recent article before attacking this dedicated public servant.

  25. The CDC also recommends the following: don’t eat sushi, don’t have sex without a condom while pregnant, don’t eat medium rare meat, don’t let children eat or play with cookie dough. How many of you stone throwers are doing this? Get a life.

    4
  26. So why doesn’t the dedicated servant just say that? Next she’ll claim privacy but that doesn’t work because she posted the picture to social media then ghosted the village.

  27. I see the mask hysteria has gripped the town’s most outspoken busy bodies. These blowhards seem to now be clinging to the belief that a poor fitting cloth mask somehow magically prevents the spread of this virus. Worst thing is that some of those egoists sit on the school board (directly or by proxy) – meaning they’ll be needlessly masking our children and destroying their confidence to feed their sense of self-importance.

Can’t they just go back to drawing cartoons or photographing people’s tragedies for Facebook likes?

  28. Hey Tony, Matt, and Hans – if the vaccine is safe and effective, why do you give a shit what she does?

  29. If she truly got her first shot when she says she did, she would not have been eligible for a “booster shot” until sometime next year. she can’t get off that easily. i don’t understand how she’s been allowed in Village Hall for months while blatantly flouting the sign at the entrance.

  30. That’s why I never put anything on Facebook, me personally I don’t need Facebook I have a life.

  31. Washing your hands as a Covid preventative is a myth from the early days of Covid. Yes, it’s a good idea as a general health measure, but Covid is a transmitted via tiny droplets of moisture, expelled from an infected persons breathing. It is ingested via our mucous membranes, which masks don’t completely cover. You can ingest this via your eyes. The only sure-fire way to avoid Covid is complete social distancing.

  32. She has been maskless even when there were no available vaccines yet. She wore them in stores that would not allow you in without one but in her domain ( Village Hall) she is maskless , allows for no hybrid access to meetings and answers no questions. She is the mayor. She is with people all the time. Her behavior has defied all logic and she led us to believe( by appearing maskless at meetings) that she was fully vaccinated. She should resign as she endangered the health of the citizens she serves and I voted for her twice!

  33. The Ridgewood know-it-alls out with today’s bulls*#t. The vaccine protects the individual from getting a more severe virus. It doesn’t stop vaccinated people from spreading the virus or its variants. Ridgewood dopes.

  34. we care

  35. I have never seen so many posts trying to distract from the main point.

  36. So what’s the latest with the missing employee. In Shade tree dept , Is the individual missing or not. Some of us are concerned.

  37. People who have had Covid-19 are often told not to get a shot for a long time. One person I know was told that there were already so many antibodies in her system that she should NEVER get one.

Vaccination is not one size fits all. Let’s not make a million assumptions and just blast everybody. That’s the trouble with social media.

    10
    2
  38. She should have worn a mask. For whatever reasons , she was not fully vaccinated and long before we could get vaccines and everyone was wearing a mask she wasn’t . She is just not your average lady on the street, she is the mayor and has attended multiple events and meetings unmasked. She abused our trust and is still not saying a word. She also is the force behind no hybrid meetings. She should step down.

  40. Public outcry? Bahahaha. Vaccinated are spreading the virus too. Liberals always have a problem with society but don’t have a problem with spending tax payers money.

    6

  41. This is a tax payer issue too. If the village employees had been infected due to this callous behavior, we would have had absentee/overtime costs, medical costs and possible litigation. A leader needs to protect those who work for them and to do everything they can to protect the institution. An elected official has the additional burden of protecting the best interest of the tax payers.

  42. Leave her alone. Many moving targets with covid and no one has right answer. Previously infected only require one dose eight months after the onset of infection

  44. Can’t we all just get back to talking about the parking garage?

  45. Bottom line. She’s supposed to wear a mask in village hall. She doesn’t.

  46. Excuse me, but why should Susan be left alone? She has been “Queen of the Village” and been in charge of the village’s purse, which she has spent lavishly on her personal projects. Schedler was born to be a playground, walking trails, a field, bathrooms and parking lots. It was not meant for a fancy roof, copper gutters and downspouts, hand fashioned “antique windows”, etc.etc. If anyone wants to come and look at the wonderful (NOT) playground, etc., they can personally see what she has personally done to benefit Ridgewood! So what gives her the right to be above all the common people in Ridgewood and decide that “she alone” is above the law AS WELL AS THE NOTICE SHE SEES EVERYTIME SHE ENTERS THE VILLAGE HALL–unless she has her own personal entrance. She has the perfect right to avoid wearing a mask as “she can do anything she wants and anything she wants becomes the law.

  47. “This is s surprise? There’s no cure for hubris…”
