Westwood NJ, on Monday, November 18, 2024, the Westwood Volunteer Fire Department sprang into action following reports of a brush fire in the parking lot of the community center. Upon arrival, crews discovered a 20-by-20-foot area of brush and fencing ablaze, dangerously close to an adjacent apartment building.
Swift Action to Contain the Fire
Engine 1 wasted no time, stretching a hand line to tackle the flames. The crew quickly began knocking down the fire while Truck 1 assisted with overhaul operations and checked the roof of the apartment building for any signs of extension.
Thanks to the team’s rapid response and coordination, the fire was fully extinguished within 10 minutes of the initial dispatch. Thorough inspections confirmed that the fire had not spread to the nearby building, ensuring the safety of residents and preventing further damage.
Scene Secured
Once the fire was under control and all safety checks were completed, the scene was turned over to the fire official for further investigation.
