Reader asks So the The Gadsden flag is Ok for the 4th of July Parade then ?

Gadsden_flag_theridgewoodblog

The New Jersey Tea Party Coalition has marched in the Ridgewood Fourth of July Parade every year for at least the last five years. The administrators of the parade would not have permitted this without having determined in advance that the NJTPC, in so marching, is not acting to promote a political agenda. Councilman Voigt has determined in his infinite wisdom that the six-color crowd is not acting politically when it raises its flag on village property. (Presumably his next move will be to try and force the parade committee to allow the six-color crowd to march in support of their chosen lifestyle in the parade.) Based on Councilman Voigt’s logic, should we not expect him to vote “yes” when the NJTPC petitions the council to permit its flag to be raised and displayed all day every day during Tea Party Pride Month?

  1. I think we should have a parade of the flags on the main av. sounds good.

  2. Why is the poster asking about Councilman Voigt’s logic? The man has no logic.

  3. Marchers carrying a rainbow flag in the parade would NOT be a problem and is entirely different from a display on municipal property.

  4. Tea Party flag in parade is offensive and to pretend it is not political is ludicrous.

  5. The 3:29pm and 3:30pm comments are clearly posted by the same person. That person either: 1) is mind-numbingly nose blind to undeniable irony and contradiction, even when his/her fertile mind is the source of same; or 2) knows all about irony but is annoyingly unwilling to refrain from uttering it because his/her true goal is to troll local blog discussions and preside over the ruthless dismemberment of civil society. Don’t put up with it, folks. We don’t need this kind of trouble.
