Ridgewood Teachers

Funny how teachers & staff only go to a board meeting when THEIR interests are effected, for example, when THEIR contract expired. How come they don’t appear at other Board Meetings? Funny how RBOE isn’t in the top 10 public school districts according the the State of NJ. Keep paying those high taxes for tenured teachers that can’t get reprimanded or fired. The teachers union sounds more like mafia. How about Ridgewood teachers spend a day in Newark or Jersey City classroom and see what a REAL school day is like.

  1. Teachers’ time is better spent teaching and preparing for lessons than going to board meetings.

  2. REA are pigs at the trough. They could care less about our kids. They only care about themselves and squeezing more and more out of taxpayers . The minute you ask them to compromise they scream “impasse” and call in a mediator. Our overmatched BOE folds everytime

  3. DO IT FOR THE ME!

  4. Agree and know there are many tenured, burned out teachers just hanging on until retirement who do nothing but complain. Teaching is a very important job but when I think of how much they earn in Rdigewood, say, compared to a registered nurse they should be counting their blessings. Nurses do not have tenure or summers off, or snow days and various holidays through out the year. Both noble professions which should be altruistic in nature but somehow it seems many teachers seem to believe they belong to a special group. And, Steve, I know a few teachers and they don’t spend a whole lot of time preparing lessons or grading papers at home after the school day.

  5. Only the new or earnest teachers spend their time preparing lessons and helping students. The ones who are counting the seconds to their retirement (and this can include younger teachers just as well as older teachers can still be great) have their first few years work available to repeat the same old, same old. These are the same teachers who only give true or false tests so they don’t really need to grade them. They have the answers from the years before. One of our sons had such a teacher. He happened to have the class after lunch and the subject was one that was very easy for him. He was able to answer the questions as fast as the teacher could write them. She actually gave him morning detention because “he was obviously spending his lunch period with a student from the earlier class and getting all the answers from him.” We had to go to the Principal to straighten it out!
