Harwin is portraying Ridgewood as some sort of hostile community in which people are marginalized for being jewish, gay, black, etc. This is completely untrue and horribly inflammatory. I am a minority, my skin is DARK. No one bothers me, no one ever has, no one bothered my kids, this is a wonderful community filled with educated easy going people. Harwin thinks she needs to save us from inequality what a crock of shit. She is trying to make trouble where none exists.
I’ve lived here since 1970. I attended the schools here and I can assure you there never was any intolerance of any sort. The problem is when new people move here they try to stir shit up to get attention since they usually have nothing worthwhile to contribute to the community.
As I have said to many of them, if you don’t like it, you can always move back to where you came from . We do not need inconsiderate nasty people here.
What Harwin is trying to do is paint a picture of Ridgewood as a community of 75 years ago. Sure, there were issues here then just as there are still some bigots among us and every other American communty even now. By falsely raising a non-extant issue as something that needs to be addressed in this campaign, and setting herself up as the hero saviour, Harwin engages in a classic political ploy.
Her ploy should not be tolerated.
With her latest pathetic political trick, Harwin reveals her true spirit, and the face of malevolence that emerges from behind the smiling mask is as nasty and brutish as anything Ridgewood has seen over the past 75 years.
Hate mongering Harwin is no hero..
And no heros trying to force the gay agenda on the citizens of Ridgewood. Why are gay pride flags flying?
What makes you so special?
Morton Downey Jr. Wants his teeth back.
BecUee she has no clue where she lives.
Please explain Morton Downey and BecUee comments. ????????
This tactic has mostly served Democrats well in most places. Heck, they even got little Josh elected using the same tactics. Why would they stop now?
I’m not a Harwin supporter but i’m so tired of reading comments like 7:56. it would seem unless a person is born and raised in the town you have nothing to contribute or can possibly have any understanding of the problems of this town. I’m new to this town but I make a point of reading up on issues, watching and attending village council meetings, voting in elections and try to contribute to this town as best I can.
To 9:04. I’m 7:56, this USED to be a nice town of people with manners. If you disagreed with the council or others , there was a respectful dialogue. The REASON you moved here is because it’s a nice place because of the people who were here long before you blessed us with your presences. We can thank the new arrivals such as our former carpet bagger mayor for the over development in town, in an attempt to further his failing political aspirations. Newbies tried to destroy Graydon to build a concrete water park. Newbies destroyed citizens park, payed for with private contributions (read the names on the plaque ) and turned it into a mud hole soccer field… I could go on an on. And we never had political lawn signs ever. The place begins to look more like Ridgefield than Ridgewood.
7:12am, don’t get too nostalgic for the “no lawn sign” days of yore. Current residents know now that we are under seige. Yard signs appearing in large numbers for Knudsen and Sedon show that people are adjusting to the new reality. The best possible situation is that political animals like Aronsohn will tire of trying to establish dominion over Ridgewood and move on to other towns whose residents do not yet “have their number”, i.e., see through their dirty tricks. And Voigt–we had his number as early as December 2016, six months aftet his election to the Village Council, when in the course of discusion and commentary on a blog post or two about his unaccountably bad behavior, we came to the realization that he was not at all a simple bully or madman, but that he was simply trying to demonize our Mayor and Deputy mayor a year and a half before they were to come up for their own re-election, so that he could more easily promote the campaign of two blatant Voight lackeys to defeat Sedon and Knudsen and subsequently cooperate in a plan by which he himself would become mayor in 2018. Now tell us — has this not transpired exactly as we surmised in December 2016? This is the value of political awareness. Yard signs are a cheap price to pay for the ability to defend ourselves against crave political opportunism by the likes of Voigt and Aronsohn.
thanks for proving my point 7:12.
