Yeah… Lets regionalize so we (as the locality with the most money) can pay the most into the regional organization and then get reduced services.
.
I feel that spreading the wealth is the right thing to do. It will help normalize the greater neighborhood and bring Ridgewood into line, proving that it is not exceptional. Regionalizing the police and fire along with providing more affordable housing for those less lucky than we are is progress.
.
Now if we can convince the VC to declare Ridgewood a sanctuary city and modify the wonderful garage plans to include medicinal (and recreational) marijuana retail space on the first floor we would really be making progress.
.
Socialism Rocks!
Stating that we would pay the most and get the least is an uninformed opinion.
I could equally say that we would get the most and pay the least.
Right now we pay a lot and get poor services, and a lot of tickets.
I do not see at all how Ridgewood pays ‘more’ if it is combined with Glen Rock, HHK, Westwood, Wyckoff. Fransklin Lakes etc.
And if we are really going to go down that path, what about those who live in Ridgewood and pay ‘less’ – a lot less – for services that they enjoy, services that are paid for by those who pay ‘more’?
I am referring to the folks who pay $10k in taxes to send 4 kids through school, while enjoying all the other services provided by the village.
Efficiencies in staffing and service is not socialism. They have nothing to do with each other.
“I do not see at all how Ridgewood pays ‘more’ if it is combined with Glen Rock, HHK, Westwood, Wyckoff. Fransklin Lakes etc. “
Of course you don’t.
.
BTW, are you a product of the “Ridgewood tradition of excellence” education?
RE: Efficiencies in staffing and service is not socialism. They have nothing to do with each other.
Of course they don’t. So what’s your point?
We are talking about regionalizing the area PDs and FDs so that RW $$ can be redistributed and all services will fall to the lowest common (aka “fair”) denominator in effect reducing the quality and quantity of services RW receives while effectively increasing the “cost per service provided” for RW.
Try to keep up.
12:09. Where do you come up with “lowest common denominator”? You are injecting your dislike of regionalization with out proof.
Back your opinion with facts before you tell others to keep up. No one can keep up with the thoughts that are bouncing around in your head.
It’s pretty oblivious that 12:09 is one if the lackeys, toadies and sycophants from the union that have destroyed not only Ridgewood but the state as a whole. The model currently followed is unsustainable and everyone knows it except the union slobs who have been screwing us for decades. Party’s over bud, get used to it.
Take a look at other counties similar to Bergen, specifically Nassau and Suffolk. Their police departments are large (county) and the residents are paying a fortune for them. There will be little cost savings to regionalization but our service will deteriorate. I’ve lived in Nassau and Ridgewood and there simply is no comparison. IF I’m going to pay a cop $120K a year or more, I’d rather have them at a local level.
Hey, Anonymous July 8, 2017 at 3:55 pm, the party is far from being over, and your gonna pay more taxes as it keeps going on and on and on. So suck it up buttercup and reach into your very large piggy bank to pay more for us lackeys, toadies and sycophants from the union.
12:25 am – The trick is to only merge departments from ‘similar’ communities. Which is why I mentioned Glen Rock, Hohokus, Wyckoff etc. alongside Ridgewood.
Merging all of Bergen country into one would be a disaster for towns like Ridgewood as all controls would shift to cesspools like Hackensack, much like Newark/Jersey City etc call the shots in the state of NJ.
