Yes, saw that – – was really scratching my head over it. Should we give up our parks, our commuity gardens our senior citizens center becuase they cost us money too?
We have developed into a town of Neros, fiddling away over all things small and tiny while the large issues burn on.
Considering how little service our infrastructure gets for the amount of taxes we pay I think the town owes us much more than some free firewood. I will take it. I don’t expect much more from my local govt anyway so anything I can get for free (even if it’s a few logs) I will take it and say thanks. The expectations for local govt services have gone really low.
Hate to be a party pooper, but virtually nothing Government does is FREE.
There was certainly a cost for the staff to prepare the firewood.
If the rational was to reduce dumping costs, perhaps that could have been accomplished by selling the wood to a third party.
Has anyone considered the cost of hauling away and dumping this wood compared to splitting up and give it away to the resident
Eagle maybe you should more concerned that 2/3 of your tax dollars go to the Board of Ed.
So very true. Even if we pay Labor to cut the wood it’s not worth it. We don’t have the time for this . Try selling the storks, or just give them away for free, Think ? wake up.
As a taxpayer I’m finding this very interesting because in the past the village compost yard used to give out and free delivery of us much of compost as you like. And also with chips. But I was told this year that they sell the wood chips, and they have a buyer for all of the compost. Which is OK we got it. It helps pay expenses . I do know that local nurseries charge as much of $300 for a core of wood. So maybe we should charge to 200 that’s fair
Just get ready for snow because it’s coming. We have no time to be full round with wood right now snow snow snow baby it’s getting real close.
Pork chop will learn!
My being conscientious about not placing leaves in street until placement day does not go unpunished.
On my block area A in front of Benjamin Franklin Middle School everyone has put their leaves out before the next placement date which is Nov. 23. Leaves blow in front of my driveway making a big mess.
I replied to a message Mailander sent Nov. 11 on importance of adhering to leaf schedule. NO ANSWER from her. I called street services and got a “Mike” on the phone. He couldn’t understand what I meant. He said , do you mean your neighbors are putting the leaves in front of B. F. on that side of the street. I had to explain five times. (Mike didn’t want to understand) Mike said he would “reach out” to the code office, Tracey.(How about a phone call, Mike.) Sure , like I will fly to the moon. He won’t call Tracy.
Shouldn’t those who put out leaves weeks too early be given a summons? I go through the trouble of bagging my leaves in big contractor bags and then lugging bags to the curb on the proper date and I am a seventy five year old woman. You know what. I am never going to rake another leaf again, ever. Except on my driveway. Rules are meant to be broken apparently. I guess I am a dope to follow the rules.
Mailander earns $200,000 per year. She should hand deliver whatever you want, whenever you want, and however you want. Oh, and she should really return some of her salary because she’s completely useless and Ridgewood taxpayers can get more for significantly less money…
Wait. Mailander makes $200000/yr???!! What a waste. She seems to be totally incompetent. I really don’t know what she does all day long. I really couldn’t stand Soenenfeld but at least she was active. You could get the attention of village departments. I can’t forgive Knudsen for installing Mailander. By the way looking back Knudsen is just as clueless as Mailander.
