Reader says Shoving overdevelopment down our throats in Ridgewood is the reason all these are on hold

CBD high density housing

Anti-Development? What Kool-Aid are you drinking. If you changed your thought properly to Over-Development, then you’d be 100% correct. Develop reasonable housing at 18-24 units, Valley can renew in Ridgewood with minor variances (not doubling in size-Ludacris). Parking garage, should be 2 levels on Hudson, then another 2 level garage at another location (Ken Smith, behind BOE building, or Hillman? Shoving overdevelopment down our throats is the reason all these are on hold. We need logical decision making and that’s what our new council will bring. Can someone please remove that illegal wall in front of the Greek Restaurant! Can anyone explain who and why this was allowed?

  1. The wall in front of the restaurant is there because Paul has friends in high places. If we are going to complain about walls or flower boxes please include those on broad street.

  2. Take them all down isssue solved its not the establishments propery put up a moveble screen or lattice work with some breaks from street side

  3. Fire hazard, safety hazard, aesthetics hazard, and entirely unfair to pedestrians and law-abiding shop owners. Get rid of every wall and plenty of tables. We need more specific ordinances and more enforcement, with fines.

  4. Let the new Council tear down the wall – there are bigger fish to fry. The original post is right on. Were it not for the outgoing Council majority allowing the hospital and the developers to push oversized “take it or leave it” projects, we could be well on our way to having a more modern hospital and central business district. How tired is the electorate of hearing “obstructionist”, “alphabet lunatic”, “anti-everything”, “vocal minority”, “vocalanti” and “opposition group”? Not a peep from the name callers since the election.

Next up – vote NO on June 21. Time to take our $11.5 million back and get the garage done right. Don’t let the lame ducks pull one over on us on their way out.

  5. 7.55 is absolutely correct..they ( incumbent- Arries..) are counting on usual tow. summer daydreaming interrupting an important and hard won/ referendum..teach your kids what this referendum is for and what rights the good citizens are rarely exercising to
prevent a serious mistake.Vote NO on June 21 then hit the Shore. We can all rest easier knowing the New Path to the future has begun.

  6. I’d love to see one of the town’s giant front end loaders revving it’s engine as a throng of onlookers cheer as the wall in front of It’s Greek to me is knocked down.

  7. 11.52. Storm the Bastille of the med….leave with half priced souvlaki as Pauley sees the light..why can’t we be friends. All together now sing….
Walls have been removed for less than a local fire code…
