We need to support the BOE and the Students. Everyone’s kids has suffered due to these teachers union this year. Class trips and after school programs are suffering. The private sectors healthcare is exploding also with no relief for us. Copays of $45, for each visit, teachers and all civil servants all need to pay their fare share and understand the pain and suffering that we are all paying more for. We are not getting raises to cover these increases nor should they. While we’re talking on this subject let’s move all to 401K plans. The system can’t handle all the retirees benefits. We will collapse soon, work 25 years then collect retirement for 35 years? Use them or lose them…no more taking $100,000s of dollars in unused sick time and vacation accrued, this is absurd. I support reasonable demands and expect our BOE professionals not to cave on unrealistic demands. Don’t get me wrong I do support teachers but can’t wait for those signs to go away!

Teachers should work in the real world and see how things are instead of doing in the taxpayer for a school system that keeps on falling in the rankings.
He’s a little something for ya….I don’t support the teachers or the BOE.
Why should I ?
100 million dollar budget is patently absurd. How can RIDGEWOOD residents sit back and let this happen? Guess what? There not. The party is over. Accountability for the thefts going on at the BOE will soon take hold. Get with the program teachers and administrators…we’re coming for you and you won’t have answers. Then you go to jail.
And they want to add full day kindergarten. There is no money for it.
Parents, if you want your kids in school all day pay tuition for one year. Leave me out of your child care plans.
I already support the teachers. I pay my taxes, which pays their salaries.
“Teachers literally create every profession in the world,” she continued. “Teaching is the fundamental basis of every facet of society. It is time for you to start treating us like the rest of the world could not go on without us, including Ridgewood.”
Wow! A direct quote from a teacher during Feb. meetings! Many believe they are on a higher level than the rest of us and deserve special consideration on salary and benefits. I think that attitude erodes the intrinsic respect that the teaching profession commands. I’m more inclined to think they should be more in touch with the reality of those professions they are supposedly preparing students to enter and temper their contract demands accordingly They seem a bit out of touch with reality and perhaps the old clique, “Those that can, do; and those that can’t teach” can be appropriately applied here. I agree with 12:04’s comments.
“Teachers should work in the real world and see how things are instead of doing in the taxpayer for a school system that keeps on falling in the rankings.” Remuneration is competitive in the real world where there is no tenure to protect underperformers.
