What’s really concerning is that these supporters of Roberta, et al is their acceptance of government that proclaims transparency yet goes to great lengths to lie and trick residents. Regardless if you really want a garage or high density apartments, tolerating the lies, deception and trickery makes you compliant. Actually, many of these supporters went to great lengths to assist Roberta, Paul, etc. because they wanted to ‘win’ the garage issue, etc. These supporters are no better, and their display of loyalty to the dishonest, lack of integrity regime that is gone is pretty pathetic. Thank goodness the majority of people are not like these supporters. Good prevails.
Say whatever you want but everywhere there are open forums for comments (except here, makes you wonder) the comments/likes in support of the pushed out VM run 10:1 in her favor. And it’s the same “three amigos” posting openly against her. We will certainly get the government we deserve.

Yes, we will get the government we deserve – thankfully voters trounced the candidates who openly supported Roberta during the May election.
Of the old man – 10:1? Really? Do the math – in two elections the policies of the former Coucil majority and the VM were defeated in landslides. Those are the only numbers that matter. Thankfully yes we’ve gotten what we deserve – the ability to tell people like you to get over it and move on already.
9:51 I don’t quite understand your comments. James does not censor this column (except for possibly censoring really foul language that no one needs to read). Did you ever think that maybe the Village could be 10-1 against the way she operated? I still feel that Roberta could have been a great VM but she fell for Aronson and crew and did not realize that they represented only themselves and not the Village residents. The 4 of them were very personable and did some things that were good for Ridgewood. But the fact that they made all decisions privately and then tried to force many of them on the Village residents and the other 2 Council members was despicable. That is not transparency, or even honest government. I’m not saying that things were totally honest before. No one person could have physically transported all those quarters w/o someone noticing. I am saying, let the new guys have a chance before you berate them so soundly. That is only fair.
If you never had to deal with Roberta and/or the past council majority on an issue contrary to their chosen course of action, you would not know how deceitful and arbitrary they could be. I would also add mean spirited and vindictive. We don’t expect people to always agree but to turn the governmental process against the residents was intolerable. and it happened, many times.

IF you are referring to Ridgewood Moms and Dads, that is NOT an open forum. They kick out members who disagree with the past regime and/or make posts openly critical of the chamber of commerce, limiting density, large garages and pretty much anything critical of the three amigos et al.
Let me give you a sense for what I meant by open forum: every school drop-off, book group, coffee shop, breakfast/lunch/dinner spot, soccer field, football game, HSA meeting, bar at happy happy hour, volunteer meeting, and place of worship. I meant pretty much everywhere that fair-minded people of Ridgewood gather and chat without fear of being shouted at, or photographed, or videotaped by a single issue mob. You will notice: Wednesday night council meetings are not on my list. The real Ridgewood is outside that court room in the everyday places where people listen to each other, thoughtfully acknowledge differences and work together to find answers that move our town forward. That’s what I was referring to as an open forum.

But if you don’t attend or watch council meetings and advocate/ speak out for what you believe all the chats outside of the courtroom in the world won’t make much of a difference if any. It takes dedicated individuals willing to participate in local government to be the watchdogs. It is hard to make change unless you have numbers behind you and even then you have to be relentless.
But as we’ve seen it’s pretty easy to steal change. I’m here all week. Tip your waitresses.

The election result speak for themselves. The full page advertisement in The Ridgewood News calling on voters to support those candidates who pledged to keep Roberta on was a TOTAL FAILURE. Voters didn’t care who the Manager was, they just wanted change. The reason Roberta “self executed” was simply because she wasn’t willing to change. Case closed.
By the way, “Of the Old Man” sound a lot like Paul Aronsohn, does it not?

Full-page newspaper ad stating that the most important issue in the council election was retaining the village manager was so wrong headed and imbecilic that I cheered when I saw it. Whom did it convince?
Neither the Village Manager nor the Planning Board attorney should openly post repeated angry, resentful comments on social media. See where that got them. A little dignity, a little professionalism, please.
Most normal people would take the loss and move on with their lives.
They are so pathetic, petty and spiteful that they will stick around and attack the current council.

Anybody who assumes that people who tell them what they want to hear outside schools, etc., represent the town at large or are even speaking their true beliefs is self-deceptive.
On Aronsohn’s personal web page, he’s still promoting himself as “Ridgewood Mayor.” How pathetic and deceitful.
