Reader says the Former Village Manager did not follow the standard procedures and signed a contract without proper approval from the Village Council

I too read the minutes from the March 2015 minutes. I got a completely different take on the iissue than Ms. Willet. It is clear from the transcript that Roberta was pushing for the deal, with ParkMobile. Boyd Loving’s comments and concerns were stated at that meeting and Roberta was extremely dismissive. As VM/ CFO she was responsible for the process and failed miserably as the Council was not made aware ,not to mention the public , of the overall cost of this contract with the village. Where was the resolution that talked of the additional credit card fees? This should have come before the council. Where was the FAC? It is not playing the blame game when tax dollars are spent with an absence of a financial analysis of the expenditure in question is not included as part of the final decision. She did not follow the standard procedures and signed a contract without proper approval from the VC.

  1. At the March 11 meeting, nothing was agreed to except the 35c fee ordinance. Other things were discussed, but nothing else was agreed to or decided on.

  2. Very interesting isn’t it

  3. She was a HUGE train wreck. Beware; 2 potential candidates for Village Council next year support her and could bring her back if they’re elected.

  4. She bragged about her business prowess and being a Six Sigma expert. Based on her acrimonious, arrogant and ignorant behavior, she proved to be a Five Phi Failure!

  5. To heck with Roberta let’s bring back Gabbert ! His ego far surpasses hers and he also has a PhD from “Dipship U” which means he is the smartest guy in the room….any room. What we need are more stupid people with big egos.!! LOL

  6. To the mayor and council do not do not hire any new personnel for Any New positions in management at all, until you know the background of these individuals. We need to move forward not backward anymore. We need experienced civil service experience . And this should go across the board. Not even any part-time Management position. And do not hire any retirees, because they’ll just bring back bad blood. As a taxpayer thank you.

  7. @11.34. I have come a feeling that there is a lot of nepotism in RW. People get hired either due to family relations, friends recommendations or just for being a nice neighbor and holding the door for you. There is not enough professionalism when hiring village staff (I may be totally wrong). In my view best people to work for our town would be people who do not live in RW or the immediate surrounding towns but who have proven experience in managing and working for a town/village/city. Get a headhunter, pay some money and find the right experienced people for the critical positions especially Village Manager which is the most important position.

  8. Bruce… Absolutely there should be a more professional search process…. However, when talking about government related, other factors are involved. It’s not the private sector. Yes there may be SOME nepotism in RWood but it’s a LOT worse elsewhere and the ones that people bring up aka some certain police officers, the requirements, tests and training ensure that the brightest and best are hired, even though some local town cranks don’t believe it…. the other part is that there are a number of residents who will make a lot of noise and whine when an outside hire is not “attuned” to issues in our “quaint village”. Plus spending our precious tax dollars for professional recruitment will bring howls of protest as well. But yeah, the idea is a good one.

  9. We do not need a new Village Manager. What we need is some legal way to clean up the enormous messes that our prior Manager created for us. Did she get a commission on the extra money being paid to the parking meter company?

  10. You said “commission”, 2:39pm, but wasn’t “kickback” the term you were groping for?

  11. Has the world turned on its axis? Second time this week I have agreed with Paul Smith

  12. Ok 456… youre saying kickback? Thats slander. You and 239 are looking to b sued for slander and public defamation. Do u really think our former vm would go for kickbacks. You anonymous losers are really delusional.

  13. Calm down PESMITH. People are allowed to ask questions. Just because she is your friend, this does not mean people cannot question her actions or motives.

  14. What are we to believe when a vendor receives large sums of money from the Village that the Village Manager had no authorization to spend? What the heck are we to think about this? Incompetence and laziness could possibly account for it, but nobody is copping to that!
