Reader Says Village of Ridgewood Historic Preservation Consultant is just Looking for a Nice Payday

Ridgewood NJ, a reader commented on the return of  the controversial historic preservation consultant Peter Primavera and nicely sums up what’s next for the Village of Ridgewood.

Reader says, “The property is on the national register of historic places. That’s it. This shady character has zero ability to change the fact, but just because you’re shady doesn’t necessarily mean you’re stupid. He’s probably feeding the brain dead morons in the new council majority a line about how he can change the historic status while knowing full well he can’t. He then will proceed to draw this thing out for months, if not years. Of course he will be billing, charging fees and paying his buddy “experts” for assistance. At the end of the day he won’t be able to change the historic status, and therefore no field will exist at this site. Sucks for the Village tax donkeys, but it’s a nice payday for our shady pal.
But wait there’s more! In this instance you might think that Pee Wee and the gang would lose the support of the sports people. Donations thin out as promises are broken. That and a 6 percent tax hike—you would think— might make Pee Wee and Pamy vulnerable in next year’s election. You know that horrible buzzer sound you hear when the contestant gets the question wrong. Think of it right about here. You’re wrong. Because they will blame Susan for it, keep the support of the sports group with other promises and the majority of the tax donkeys will re-elect the lot of them. Following that, expect your 10 percent tax hike, pet projects and more dough for Pee Wee’s playhouses down town. Enjoy.”

  1. It was Susan and her gang who quietly requested the entire site get registered as historic. No one was asking for that designation except for her close supporters who wanted to ensure no field could get built. All because just maybe some revolutionary soldier dropped a shoelace or something when he stopped to pee nearby.

    3. go back and chase squirrels you fcking moron

    4. Thank the Lord that Susan actually did get the historic designation! Otherwise, like Evan Weitz says all of the time, that this would be a 7-11. We have news for him, that a giant sports complex is probably worse.

  2. So many ignorant people and so many people who want a field will do anything to get one. Stop playing the blame game. The property is historic whether you like it or not. It is not a suitable property for a giant sports multi purpose field that would eventually be a sports complex. We all know that you give an inch and they take a yard. Why not leverage the gem that this property is instead of catering to special interest groups.

  3. Of course he is going to come back for more and more $$$. He may have misrepresented his credentials, he may not be well liked in his circles and with colleagues based on the references that were furnished (not just the ones Heather read at the initial meeting where they agreed to hire him), but heck, this guy is a crafty little devil and isn’t going to turn down free money. His initial “foot in the door” was that Paul brought him in at the end of last year and bought into and convinced his majority block to vote for this guy’s first contract. That was just an appetizer and was relatively cheap (around $8K, but just wait, the entrees and desserts for all of the colleagues that he will likely need to bring in will cost a lot more money. He

  4. Look for the Council to move on Schedler during July and August when everyone’s at Graydon or Ocean Grove.

  5. It was designated historic for mainly one reason $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

  6. Hey look at me, I’m famous. Or infamous.
But to address the first commenter, who clearly is one of Pee Wee’s puppets, the only reason I mentioned Susan is to exemplify the lame blame game these dolts are going to play. Actually Art Wrubel, former chair of the Historic Preservation Commission, initiated the historic designation process in 2009 or 2010, long before Susan was elected to anything.
I’ll go one further. I’ll bet Pee Wee knows this mess will go nowhere. What he is doing with the Schedler Property is purely political. He is using taxpayer funds to go down this road knowing that the historic designation will not change. When they finally complete this process and the designation remains he will blame Susan, and then offer up lower Hawes to the sports groups for their continued support. After they win the next election that will be the next sports target as well as more major development downtown. I’m sure the sports people are dumb enough to fall for the whole lie and their support will continue. Remember Pee Wee and his gang are liars. They don’t deal in facts or dates they construct narratives . What I’ve laid out for you is the current and future narratives they will use to manipulate the dull-witted tax donkeys of Ridgewood. 10 percent tax hike, here we come baby!

  7. All this for a field. At the end of the day, this will be the most expensive field in the history of fields.
7% tax and growing more than the designed trash cans are overflowing! Wow
