Village of Ridgewood : Van Neste Memorial Park "Revival" project

We should memorialize this caper with a village plaque to hubris and for the future generations to Trust but first Verify.Could have turned out quite differently without the hard and determined efforts to overcome those developers and some whom they called to dance to their opportunistic tune.

  1. Look at the names on this…these families are institutions in the Village and stepped up as benefactors and in some cases making substantial donations to forward the project. And now it’s moot. Don’t ask me for another dime because your not going to get it.

  2. 9:27, are you talking about the parking garage or Memorial Park at Van Neste Square?

  3. Only 21 years ago. Feels like yesterday to me. Very sad and can just imagine how hideous it will be. Any grass left? This project was openly pushed by Vagianos (among others) to make downtown a happenin’ place after dark–just what we do not need. The previous project was a labor of love by hardworking volunteers and generations-old families…and still looks FINE.

  4. Even IRS won’t allow writing it off before 27 years. What’s wrong with our new council? Why did they agree to this project?

  5. Idea! When a parking garage is NOT built at Hudson and S. Broad, let’s put down one of those flat plaques in the sidewalk bearing the names of council members and residents who tried to build GarageMahal, but failed, thanks to an extreme amount of work by diligent and farsighted (not literally) residents. With a bas-relief of the largest version, in bronze, creeping halfway across the street.

  6. 5:47 If they do put that plaque down there will be a lot of people pissing on it.

  7. Just put it on the wall outside “It’s Greek To Me”.
Plenty of room there…..you can’t miss it.
