Readers also Voice Concern on the Mayors Overly Cozy Relationship Stephen Borg, Publisher and President, North Jersey Media Group
Stephen Borg, Publisher and President, North Jersey Media Group. Chris Harris reporter for the Record De facto Press Secretary for our Mayor and of course our Mayor former Press Secretary to Gov. Mc Grievy. What do you think folks. Do you think your get the full story from North Jersey Media or is it slanted towards our Mayor and his deeds.
Is there a liberal slant to The Record’s news coverage? A number of readers who participated in recent telephone interviews with our market research team said they think there is.
The focus of interviews conducted over 10 days in March centered on what “jobs” readers want fulfilled by The Record. “Tell me the truth” stood out as a key job, but several readers added that they want the truth objectively – not from a reporter’s personal angle. That led to expanded conversations.
“A good portion of these people feel The Record is politically liberal,” said Joe Ferrara, market research manager. “Some of that may mirror a broader perception about media generally having a political agenda. But some people made the distinction between The Record’s editorial pages and news content, saying ‘Your opinion pages are sneaking over into your news articles’.”
Can’t figure out why Warren Buffet bought newspapers. This is a dying medium.

Does The Record lean leftward in their opinion pages. Yes it does IMHO. The Record also has a very vibrant Letters to the Editor section as well as “other views”. Many of those letters and views are diametrically opposed to many of the opinions of the editorial board and columnists. Over the years it does not appear that they suppress dissent as long as it is presented fairly, which means personal attacks, profanity and unfounded charges usually don’t pass muster. Also that little detail of supplying name and address…. and their blog is as open as this blog….and this blog, warts and all, is much more civil than some of the other stuff out there in cyberspace….
Do you all recall when our Mayor squelched a negative letter-to-the-editor that Mrs. Linda MacNamara had sent to the Ridgewood News? In the interest of TRANSPARENCY, she gave a copy to the Council in advance of the publication, even though it had already been accepted by the RWD News. The Mayor then told the Editor not to print it (Mr. Ed Virgin was out of town, but his next-in-command took the order from Mayor Aronsohn and obeyed it). Yes, this is true. The Mayor does indeed go out of his way to slant the news. Mind you, this was a letter to the editor, not a news story, so the writer’s opinion should have gone through to printing. It was a horrible, blatant act on the part of Mr. Aronsohn.
Well lets not forget what he and his running mates have done in the past with their attacks on fellow council members, employes and citizens and vote accordingly. Don’t be fooled by all this civility act. They are trying to smooth over their image so they get re elected and continue the BLOCK VOTE that they have enjoyed.
Not to worry, 7:25 – the block will be broken. Look how the public spoke in the voting booths when it came to voting for the three amigos’ candidate last year. Sanity will rule in 2016. The reign of terror will finally end.
The Record is a rag that is dying a slow painful death at the hands of electronic media.
I could not be happier.
Good Riddance…
8:06 people in rRdgewood have short memories and our mayor is a master of rebuilding his image.
10:34 – his image is irreparably tarnished. No sheen left whatsoever. Don’t worry he is DONE.
