At least one of these vehicles hit a utility pole. This knocked out power to at least part of the surrounding neighborhood. Were they responding to the same call at speed, one on East Glen, one on North Van Dien? No wonder the two officers were transported to the hospital–the impact must have been tremendous. Any update on how these officers are faring?

  1. We’re just very lucky there were no kids crossing the intersection.
If two cop cars can’t avoid hitting each other, any one of us could have been hit if we were driving by.
We need to get the facts out on this accident. Cops driving way too fast and reckless in a residential area needs to stop.

  2. Is there a camera on the light at Van Dien and Linwood…?

I’d love to see this video.

  3. Here’s a thought….the white Ford that crashed into the pole is the undercover car that was put into service 2 years ago…I wonder if that had something to do with it…

  4. Revenge of the Nepotists ?

  5. The impact noise was plenty loud. Power went out more or less immediately. One of the vehicles must have been knocked off the road due to the force of the impact and subsequently hit the utility pole, knocking out the power. Had this accident been filmed it would not have been out of place as a scene in The Blues Brothers or in The Bourne Identity. Hence the (continuing) concern for the well-being of the as-yet-unnamed officers involved. This may also be an issue with respect to local police procedure when travelling at speed in response to a call. That intersection is a not a three way stop–there is only a stop sign at the end of North Van Dien. So the officer speeding into the intersection after having traveled all the way north on North Van Dien would appear to have had the obligation to confirm that there was no oncoming traffic heading east on East Glen Avenue (that is the only direction from which traffic is potentially obscured) that posed an accident hazard. The officer driving east on East Glen Avenue would clearly have had the right-of-way, for what it’s worth.

  6. We were inside Valley Hospital and we loss electricity for a few seconds before the generators took over.
