Relator Jim Arakelian made the following observations , “So I go to the grand finale of The Fireplace Restaurant with our future Governor Jack Ciattarelli to talk about small businesses closing up. I bring my PA and wireless mic and set it up right in the parking lot with 500-700 people waiting on line to purchase their last food order. I decide to play some 60’s music in the parking lot (that’s what the restaurant always played) me for the people that are on line to enjoy while Jack works the crowd with Joe Nasso, John Gil, and Linda T. Barba in tow. Bob Taschler kept an eye out on my equipment while lending a hand to the other candidates, Frank T. Pallotta, Al Mastrofilipo, and Jerry Taylor making their rounds. Kelly Ann Hart stood by and bossed us all around .
Around 2pm the manager comes out and walks to my truck and asks if it’s mine. I’m like “oh oh, now I’m in trouble”. The owner shakes my hand and thanks me for entertaining the crowd with the music. He then says “sir , can you do me a big favor”? Sure anything. “Can you announce we are all out of food”? . So of course I did. We all got a nice ovation. Jack addressed the crowd and we bid a “Bergen County Jewel” it’s last goodbye. Special shout-out to Hudson Chairman Jose Arango for coming in from Jersey City to support our efforts. Big Hug brother.
By the way, I never got my food order.”
