Ridgewood NJ, Alexander C. Melarti, a member of the Boy Scout Troop # 7 and a resident of Ridgewood, has earned the honor of
Eagle Scout, the highest rank that the Boy Scouts offers. Only 3 to 4
percent of Boy Scout members ever attain this prestigious honor.
Alexander, 18, of Ridgewood High School, achieved the 21 merit badges
required to receive the Eagle Scout award. For his final project, he cleaned
and made repairs to “The Old Burying Ground,” a historic cemetery in
Hohokus, NJ. The cemetery is the final resting place for two families that
founded the borough of Hohokus and dates back to 1792.
“During my twelve years in the Boy Scout organization, I have recognized
personal growth that I can directly attribute to my scouting experiences.
Much of that growth falls in the character traits that the Boy Scouts
traditionally aim to develop; learning how to be more respectful, kinder,
and more patient. But on top of the countless lessons and guidance that I
received as part of the scouting program, I have learned a tremendous amount from those scouts ahead of me. The incredible young men who could humble crowds of people with their accomplishments before even having graduated. Because of them, I am more focused, more open, and more determined to take on new challenges.”
A ceremony honoring Alexander Melarti will take place on Saturday, June 15, 2019, at 1:30 pm at The Upper Ridgewood Community Church, 35 Fairmount Road, Ridgewood, NJ. Family and friends are welcome to attend.
