Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood football’s 2023 season came to a disappointing close on Friday, Oct 27, 2023. The Ridgewood Varsity Boys Football team lost their game against Union High School by a score of 30-35.
The loss came in the first round of the North Jersey, Section 1, Group 5 state tournament. Leaving the Maroons with a season at 4-5 under first year with new head coach Torre Watson.
Ridgewood could not overcome a 35 -17 deficit with a little over 10 minutes remaining . Ridgewood’s defense would hold Union scoreless leaving Ridgewood in striking distance with a little under 3 minutes left . A missed 2 point conversion and failed onsides kick gave Union the ball . The Ridgewood’s late “Hail Mary ” drive with seconds on the clock failed when the Maroons ran out of time
by a score of 30-35….really?
