Ridgewood NJ, most parents feel the SAT test is one of the most important tests high school students will take. This year the state’s graduating class of 2018 posted an average score of 542 in reading and 543 math, a total of 1,085 out of 1,600, according to state data. The average score nationally in 2018 was a 1,068.
So who did the best ,as usual, it was the specialized high schools with selective enrollment and high schools in wealthier communities. The states top SAT high school had an average score of 1,498. Ridgewood High School came in 24th with a score of 1269,given the size of the class and the overall competition, definitely something Ridgewood High School can be proud of .Neighbor Glenn Rock High School also broke the top 50 with an impressive over all score of 1230 ,coming in 38th .
Here is how some local schools did :
45. Northern Valley Regional High School at Old Tappan: 1,219 (tie)
38. Glen Rock High School: 1,230
26. Northern Valley Regional High School at Demarest: 1,266 (tie)

Wow…1420 SAT for Bergen County Academies … that’s a score and a half for and AVERAGE SCORE! Realize it’s an apples to oranges comparison to Ridgewood, but still…that’s a large number of kids well-prepared for freshman year to say the least!

My daughters SAT scores went up 150 points when I sent him to a private tutor after she took it a first time. Her better is scored was NOT due to attending RHS; it’s due to the fact that I paid and SAT tutor.
^^ Glad you found success via your route. My Daughter went up 130 points from PSAT to SAT without a tutor and scored above the average. Saved buckets of money and earned nice merit award from college as well.
I paid over $3500 for a package to one of the SAT preparation organizations in the area and my kid scored 1500. A lot of $ but I hope it pays off. I couldn’t take a chance with just the school’s work.
My child, Ridgewood Public Schools product K-12, was disappointed with first SAT test score, but managed to score 100 points higher (increased to 1540 total (790 math, 750 verbal) without the assistance of any tutors. Did use commercially available test prep materials though so no need to settle for a relatively low score if u r motivated.
Did boxes of tissues add points?
So…maybe all you people all wound up about juniors SAT score should take a good read of the last anons comment.
I have 54 people working for me in my business and I could give a crap about SAT scores or what fancy college you went to. I want to know what you can do for me NOW, TODAY. Your overt fascination with a scammed ranking system shows how pathetic you people really are. You don’t give a shit about junior it’s all about YOU and how you might be perceived. Absolutely pathetic.
This change to the SAT grading on a curve will unfairly hurt Ridgewood …… https://www.cnn.com/2019/05/16/us/sat-adversity-score/index.html
Why any parent from Ridgewood would have their kids take the SAT knowing the scores will be curved against them is beyond me. I would guess a move to the ACT replacing the SAT will accelerate as parents and students realize this.
