Ridgewood NJ, in Ridgewood, NJ, there’s been an ongoing issue with Village Taxi that raises eyebrows. Despite closing their office at the train station and ceasing to pay rent to the Village years ago, their advertisement remains prominently displayed. This has left many residents wondering why.
Back in November 2010, a Village Council meeting revealed that Ridgewood Taxi had been operating without a license since 2008. They also failed to provide Village officials with a Certificate of Liability Insurance, a requirement for their operation. This sparked concerns about the oversight and management of taxi services in Ridgewood.
Fast forward to 2011, when the Village of Ridgewood (VOR) opened bids for the taxi concession at the NJ Transit Railroad Station on North Broad Street. Five firms submitted bids, vying for the exclusive rights to operate their businesses at this prime location. Village Taxi, which later acquired Ridgewood Taxi, eventually became Ridgewood Taxi & Limo, continuing to serve the area.
However, the lingering presence of their advertisement at the train station, despite the closure of their office and non-payment of rent, raises questions about the Village’s enforcement of regulations and the transparency of its agreements with local businesses. Why has this advertisement been allowed to remain? And what does this say about the Village’s management of its public spaces?

Rutishauser strikes again!
the Village of Ridgewood always playing favorites
Get a life.
A Rutishauser lackey, no doubt.
Can you say Monty hall.
So we will set up a group to decide who can advertise. Makes sense comrade, maybe that same group can set the price of groceries.
The place is filthy. Why can’t they send someone to clean it. Inside is a must.🧹🧽
Follow the money
Peewee is involved somehow…
What does engineering have to do with the taxi stand? The building is owned by the village. Anything that goes into that location has to be approved by the mayor and council, yes the place is a disgrace inside and also the bus depot is a disgrace, I had to pick up a relative Saturday night, and it was full of filth, garbage, people peeing inside, not one light was working, just ridiculous. That location is so dark. What the hell is going on? I seem better bus stations and some of the poorest states in the US no wonder people feel very uncomfortable of standing inside or outside of the bus station. And I also witnessed for myself two or three homeless people sleeping inside which sucks for them. Come on the village manager needs to address these two locations in the c b d.
What’s a TAXI ?
This has been going on for 10 years.
