Instead of trashing the 3 amigos, village mgr, housing, garage, obama care, taxes, families putting more children in schools, dolphin safe tuna, etc…. this is the battle that defines the village.. put your resources to stop this project as it’s proposed.. for me it’s not a NIMBY issue but you can’t fight a 3 front war… cut the petty crap by the station and focus on this… oh yeah, the lame duck mayor gave the thumbs down to the expansion as well…
Paul,,in any normal town we could shift..how about the city hall folks resign now so we can focus on valley issues and important Battles ahead..
503… this is a normal town believe it or not, and much better run than many of the other towns in NJ…activists are picking the wrong battles and unfortunately, comments like yours, while well intentioned, are naive and feel good, nothing more… the housing and the garage issues are not game breakers for the town, the Valley explosion is… which means we all lose based on a vocal minority going after the wrong targets for the wrong reasons… The comic strip Pogo by Walt Kelly has maybe the most profound quote I’ve heard: “We met the enemy and he is us”…. the splintering of opposition and focus on things like signs and other small things allows Valley to move forward as they don’t need to deploy divide and conquer… we’ve done it to ourselves… I hope people wake up and realize what’s at stake…
I think you are so off base here Paul. The council rejected the deal, they sued and the negotiations have been in private, only just now unsealed. Not sure what you think people should have been doing? Details emerged and people will fight it. No splintering of groups, just more people becoming aware of how dysfunctional this council is.
Thank you Paul, I don’t completely agree with all your thoughts but it is still a solid statement and we all agree that there are some very serious issues ahead, good luck to us all and our Village,
1010… thinking I’m way off base is your right… yes there have been things going on behind the scenes but we’ve lost any leverage with CBD owners due to a difference of 50 odd spaces and continue to battle over a net difference of 25 odd apartments with the council while others are obsessed with things like that sign in front of the station… as for the council, with the personal shots and attacks, we are at their mercy and my point is we did it to ourselves…
