Ridgewood NJ, in a bid to enhance their capabilities in handling complex situations involving differently abled individuals ie individuals with special needs and autism, Ridgewood Police officers recently underwent valuable hands-on training. Led by Police Chief Forest Lyons, the officers delved into practical scenarios to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application.
While acknowledging the extensive training received on related issues through computer-based programs, Chief Lyons emphasized the importance of experiential learning. “This type of training really bridges the gap between theory and practical experience, and makes everyone much more capable to handle any situation that may arise,” he stated.
The initiative was made possible through Ridgewood’s collaboration with JoyDew, an organization dedicated to empowering differently abled individuals. Chief Lyons expressed gratitude towards JoyDew for providing highly effective training sessions for the officers. “We are so grateful to Ridgewood’s JoyDew for providing some of the most effective training that our officers could receive,” Lyons remarked.
Acknowledging the significance of the training,Chief Lyons also thanked ABC News for helping raise awareness about JoyDew’s initiatives and their partnership with Ridgewood. The hands-on experience gained by Ridgewood Police officers not only enhances their skills but also underscores the community’s commitment to inclusivity and understanding. Through such collaborative efforts, Ridgewood continues to strive towards creating a safer and more compassionate environment for all its residents.
