Ridgewood NJ, there was a water main break at the corner of Woodland Avenue and N. Monroe Street. The water main break temporally caused disruption to morning traffic. Ridgewood water crews are on site with assistance from Ridgewood Police Department.

According to Ridgewood Water the following actions took place :

8/23/23 9:30am – A water main break was discovered on the corner of N. Monroe and Woodland in Ridgewood today.  Our crews are on the scene and working to evaluate the extent.  Please plan an alternate route.

12:30 pm – Ridgewood Water Crews have been able to repair the main while still maintaining positive pressure.  Therefore we were able to maintain service to all Ridgewood Water Customers in the affected area. The next step is to back fill and pave the location of the leak.  Ridgewood Water Crews expect to have all work complete by 4pm ahead of the evening commuter traffic.

Ridgewood Water does not expect any discolored water events due to the ability to affect the repair while still maintaining positive pressure.  If you live in the area of the main break, it is advisable to investigate your water before doing laundry or running the dishwasher.  Simply run water through any tap.  If discolored water is present, bypass any filtration systems and flush your indoor plumbing by running the lowest tap in your house for 2-3 minutes until discoloration clears.

2:30 pm – All work is completed and the road has been paved.  We thank the residents of this area and those who travel this route regularly for their patience while we repair this main break.
