Disgusting. And I’m not talking about the quality of the water.
Seems kinda high for PFAS water. What happened to Vagianos saying “we didn’t put it into the water, but we will get it out” speech and the multi million dollar lawsuit against Dupont and 3M and others and all of the money that Gottheimer gave Ridgewood to build the PFAS remediation facilities. What is going on???
Went to HB and feel the frontlines. Where did the 4 million go?
Gottheimer didn’t give Ridgewood anything. The money came from the federal government aka the taxpayers.
They purchased a building for their HQ and spent well over a million to renovate it. Gave us the bullshit line that they actually saved us money because they were able to consolidate offices.
Ridgewood Water was spread out. Moving into the Elks Building provided the Ridgewood Police with additional office space . . . the impetus was not really the consolidation of RW but, rather, providing RPD with more offices. S
why do the bills get sent to vt
Wait? What? They paid over $1 million to renovate their offices?!? That’s insane!
They are municipal workers. I’m not paying for them to work in the f’ing lap of luxury. Work in spartan offices!
Oh, and take that million out of your compensation – not our tax dollars!
And the countless snazzy looking RW Water trucks that seem to sit in the same spots all day. Waste of $$$.
Yea but they have nice lettering
This water could be killing us? Who knows
The “PFAS surcharge of $24.71” is the biggest slap in the face of all.
We are paying for the privilege of RW water to poison us.
They are MOTIVATED to NOT fix the problem.
THEY should be PAYING US (i.e. reducing our bill with a credit) for every month the PFAS situation is NOT resolved. THAT would motivate them to FIX the problem.
wasn’t this the platform the big VAG ran on? yet he is building a pavilion for a private business to be able to utilize all day
anyone who did not know he was a disingenuous ass and voted for him, deserve what they get.
Ridgewood Water didn’t contaminate the aquifer with PFAS/PFOS/PFOA but they have to remediate it and that costs big $$$. Where do you think that $$ comes from? For now, that is you and me. Hopefully, they will recover some of the remediation costs from responsible parties but for now, remediation needs to happen and not be tied up in lawsuits and courts.
And, for the record, Ridgewood Water has gotten out in front of the remediation issue and is far ahead of other water suppliers with respect to PFOS treatment.
It’s insulting! The water is not suitable for consumption and they want a rate hike? Nobody is holding this company to established standards. It’s ridiculous that they would request a rate increase!
Have you eve considered the rate hike will support remediation efforts and ongoing infrastructure improvements? Ridgewood Water did not put the contaminants in the water but they have to remediate it and that costs big $$$ (hopefully some of which will be recovered from the responsible parties).
As for established standards, PFOS/PFOA is a new standard and Ridgewood is well ahead of the pack on remediation efforts. Ridgewood Water is barely exceeding the new standard and the standard is orders of magnitude conservative in terms of protection of human health.
Have you considered that it won’t? It would be the first time in history that “taxing” a problem made it went away.
Don’t listen to this snake.
What happened to Waterboy? We seen him taking a hole. Mud wet, filthy, interesting very interesting,Huhhh
What a sham! Not long in this area and floored at the lack of concern or outrage over toxic drinking water. There seems to be more of a focus on pretentious priorities like lamp posts and sidewalk gardens than there does about safe drinking water. This company seeks applause for not meeting deadlines and shifting the cost to the consumers – all with a PR campaign based on this isn’t their fault and they shouldn’t have to take on the responsibility or accountability. My initial call to the company upon moving here was answered by a rude representative who said that I and everyone else ingests these chemicals on our own all the time!
and a 340,000 dollar pavilion at Habernickel for who??? get us clean water first!
