Ridgewood NJ, As a result of comments made during a meeting of the Village Council on March 10, 2021, Rurik Halaby has lost any credibility he had left, which was very little to begin with.
Mr. Halaby demanded that Village Manager Heather Mailander resign her position immediately, and be replaced by former Village Manager Roberta Sonenfeld. Halaby stated that Ms. Sonenfeld is: “an experienced business person” capable of “righting the ship” and “restoring employee morale.” Yes; that’s right. Mr. Halaby said all of those things.
Now that The Ridgewood Blog’s staff has picked themselves all up off of the floor, we have just this to say about Mr. Halaby: He’s a joke.
Ms. Sonenfeld was unarguably the worst Village Manager in the Village’s history. Bringing her back into Village Hall for any reason, even to clean the toilets, would certainly result in disaster. Everyone seems to know this except Mr. Halaby. We’re not sure where Mr. Halaby was during Ms. Sonenfeld’s turbulent tenure, but clearly, he wasn’t anywhere nearby, or wasn’t awake.
The Ridgewood Blog thanks Mr. Halaby for continuing to make a fool of himself because it gives our staff something interesting to write about.
Sonenfeld was a train wreck and Halaby is an idiot.
Next thing you know, Halaby will on the Zoom proclaiming the virtues of Jeff Voigt. Jesus. What a moron.

Consider the source. As Mike Sedon pointed out, the leader of a pack that peppered the 2018 campaign for Village Council with misinformation and mudslinging, including accusations that Mr. Sedon didn’t even live in Ridgewood. What a charmer Halaby is.
Roberta came to the job with no previous governmental work experience. She was not a good fit.
Now remind me, which wedding band was that? His first? Second? Promise ring from Gwenn?

i think heather is one of the best village managers we have had. I’ve found her to always know what is going on in town…. rurik is an old man with nothing better to do
I did not know Roberta well but everything she officially wrote back then regarding town issues seemed to me to be conceived as a cover your a** piece of PC crap. Seems like she could have worked at a PR firm writing flowery puff pieces rather than a true town administration leader.
If the village manager had to be replaced, Sonenfeld would be about as wise a replacement as my neighbor’s crazy dog.

A few of the late village managers, Roberta, and The doctor. Had their ass kissers in under management running the show. Just look at the ones that were getting The biggest Pay raises. Most of us like the village manager that’s in place. At times is she overwhelmed yes her desk is always full. For the next village manager it definitely will be someone from the outside. We just had this talk recently. It definitely will be someone from a large city. No hillbillies from Pennsylvania. On the average day in the village it’s like an episode of the twilight zone.
Is there really low morale with Village employees? How does he know? Most working people have lower morale these days. Working remotely sucks, my commute is gone but it just turned into more working hours, it is harder to collaborate effectively with colleagues vs. in-person and it especially sucks if you have small kids around and you are doing double duty to explain and check assignments and kick them off devices during remote class time.
Heather Mailander should resign immediately (because she’s completely incompetent and vastly overpaid). But, in no way should she be replaced with Roberta Sonenfeld (who was an absolute disgrace).
That picture of Paul and Roberta states the problem more than any words could. Paul worked to get rid of Ken Gabbert so that he could put Roberta in,she with no municipal experience and acting as a sixth council member to push forth his agenda which I believe was awful for the village and it’s people. It was always about him.
Get someone from the out side. Absolutely do not promote within inn. Way too much dirty shit going on. We need an individual from a big city with a lot of experience .
Was there any point of this article other than to drum up a bunch of haters. Both sides are pretty awful….
