Ridgewood NJ,  Building on the success of the RHS Alumni Career Speaker Series, the Ridgewood High School Alumni Association (RHSAA) launched a complementary program, the RHS Alumni Externship Program (RAX), designed to give juniors and seniors an interactive career mentorship experience with professionals in a variety of career fields and positions. RHS alumni eagerly responded to this unique opportunity to give back to their high school community in a way that would have a meaningful impact on the next generation of leaders, innovators, creators and thinkers.

Assembly Democrats Sponsor Bill to Prohibit ICE from Detaining , Murders, Rapists ,Pedophiles and Criminals

Trenton NJ,  Assembly Democrats Gordon Johnson, Verlina Reynolds-Jackson and Linda Carter sponsor a bill that would prohibit certain entities from agreeing to detain immigrants in New Jersey facilities. The legislation was advanced by the Assembly Law and Public Safety Committee on Wednesday.

Under the bill (A-5207), the State, local government agencies, and private detention facilities in New Jersey would be prohibited from entering into a new agreement or renewing/expanding an existing agreement with federal immigration authorities – such as U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) – to house or detain individuals for civil immigration violations.

Harrisburg PA, Pennsylvanians on Tuesday voted to strip Democratic Gov. Tom Wolf’s emergency powers that he imposed during the COVID-19 outbreak. The vote approves constitutional amendments proposed by Republican lawmakers angry over Wolf’s handling of the outbreak. Republicans see the vote as an overture to the upcoming governor’s race.

NEA, NJEA Join Forces to grow labor-management collaboration

Ridgewood NJ, The National Education Association (NEA) and the New Jersey Education Association (NJEA) have agreed to develop a dynamic partnership to grow a New Jersey-based program to introduce states and districts throughout New Jersey and the country to the benefits and processes of labor-management collaboration. NEA is providing NJEA with a $500,000 grant to help expand the New Jersey Public School Labor-Management Collaborative and additional funds to help other interested state and local affiliates to plan and launch partnerships that foster labor-management collaboration practices in districts and worksites. NEA has committed to invest more than $3 million over three years to fund and grow this initiative.

Jeff Van Drew (R-2) released the audio of a death threat Ocean City columnist John McCall, a longtime member of the New Jersey Press Association, recently left on his home phone while he was in Washington and blasted the Ocean City Sentinel for publishing columns, before and after, in which McCall insinuates Van Drew should be executed for treason, vividly describes invading and destroying his home, and graphically ponders what it would be like to sexually assault his wife over the hood of her car.

UK Researchers Study the Efficacy of Vaccination Using Doses from 2 Different Vaccines

Ridgewood NJ, according to Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security researchers in the UK are initiating a clinical trial to evaluate the efficacy of vaccination using doses from 2 different vaccines. Allowing (or potentially recommending) individuals to receive 1 dose each from 2 different vaccines could introduce flexibility into vaccination programs and potentially even increase the degree of protection from the vaccination. The UK government has allocated approximately £7 million (US$9.6 million) to fund the study, and early data could be available by this summer. The study aims to include more than 800 participants aged 50 years and older who have not yet been vaccinated.
