CAMDEN NJ, Governor Phil Murphy announced two new measures to continue the Administration’s unwavering commitment to build an inclusive state for every New Jersey resident.

This morning, the Governor signed Executive Order No. 74, which directs the New Jersey Department of Human Services and the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development to advance immigrant and refugee integration initiatives, including the design of an Office of New Americans. The Executive Order also establishes an Interagency Workgroup on New American Integration to create opportunities for coordination and implementation of strategies and actions to advance immigrant and refugee integration.

U.S. Economy Adds Another 224,000 New Jobs in June As Wage Increases Remain Strong

Washington DC, The United States economy continues to flourish, according to the June Employment Situation Report released today by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). Total nonfarm payroll employment in June rose by 224,000 jobs, far exceeding market expectations (162,000). With July marking the longest economic expansion on record, it is a testament to the strength of the Administration’s economic policies that the economy continues to generate monthly job gains of this magnitude.

Gottheimer Highlights North Jersey’s Role in Revolutionary Era and Calls for Increased Promotion of Historic Sites to Boost Tourism

HO-HO-KUS NJ, U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer, in celebration of Independence Day this week, stood within the Crossroads of the American Revolution to highlight New Jersey’s rich history and the importance of investing in developing North Jersey’s tourism economy and in preserving historical sites.

Gottheimer, joined by local historic preservation leaders and reenactors, visited the Hermitage Museum today, the home of Theodosia Bartow Prevost, which hosted revolutionaries including Alexander Hamilton, the Marquis de Lafayette, and New Jersey’s own Aaron Burr. George Washington also used the home as a headquarters.

Each year, the Fourth of July Celebration Committee chooses a theme that celebrates a certain aspect of American history or culture. The theme also serves as the basis for the float competition held among the town’s elementary schools.

The 2019 celebration theme as “ALL-AMERICAN SUMMER.” The theme aims to celebrate all things summer in America – backyard barbeques, baseball games, outdoor concerts, camping, fairs, cross country road trips, or driving to the Jersey shore – we all have a favorite!

New Jersey native Sentenced for Continued Support of ISIS

Newark NJ, A New Jersey native who agreed to cooperate with the US government following a terrorism conviction was sentenced on charges she continued to support ISIS. Sinmyah Amera Caesar, 24, received four years in prison and eight years on probation on June 25 after pleading guilty in March to recruiting for the terrorist organization and obstruction of justice. The Brooklyn, New York, resident born in New Jersey signed a cooperation agreement with the federal government in 2017 following a guilty plea to the charge of providing material support to ISIS.

Instead of raising taxes AGAIN why don’t we try getting our fiscal house in order, provide much needed property tax relief through additional school funding to any municipality where school funding accounts for more than 50 percent of the tax bill and take care of our struggling middle class residents. ”

July 4th is One of Nation’s Deadliest Holidays for Drunk Driving

Ridgewood NJ, Long holiday weekends can be dangerous on America’s roads, and July 4^th and the days surrounding the national holiday are among the deadliest for drunk driving. Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) urges everyone to celebrate safely by planning ahead and designating a non-drinking driver if plans include alcohol.

More people die in drunk driving crashes in July than any other month, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The July 4 holiday is particularly deadly.

More NJ Beaches Closed Due to Dangerous Bacteria

Sparta NJ, Dangerous bacteria blooms are prompting advisories and forcing closures of more public swimming areas in New Jersey. The Spruce Run reservoir in Hunterdon County has been closed to swimmers for all but one day in June because of cyanobacteria blooms. The Hopatcong State Park beach was recently closed because of a Harmful Algal Bloom (HAB). Now 7 other Lake Hopatcong beaches have also been closed over bacteria concerns. Lake Mohawk in Sparta is under an advisory, although swimming is still allowed. The Swartswood Lake State Park swimming area has reopened after closing because of a HAB earlier this month.

PSE&G to Repair Underground Electrical Vaults in Ridgewood Friday, June 28th through Wednesday, July 3rd

Ridgewood NJ, PSE&G will be doing work to repair collapsing underground electrical vaults from Friday, June 28th through Wednesday, July 3rd. The work on June 28th, June 29th, and July 1st will be on East Ridgewood Avenue between Cottage Place and Walnut Street. The work will continue July 2nd through July 3rd on North Broad Street, between Franklin Avenue and East Ridgewood Avenue.

On East Ridgewood Avenue, vehicles will be allowed to travel towards North Maple Avenue (eastbound), but East Ridgewood Avenue will be closed to traffic going from Cottage Place, up to Walnut Street (westbound).

On North Broad Street, vehicles will be allowed to travel from Franklin Avenue to East Ridgewood Avenue (southbound), but North Broad Street will be closed to traffic going from East Ridgewood Avenue to Franklin Avenue (northbound) .

Police Officers will be directing traffic on cross streets, during these closures. Thank you for your cooperation and patience during these closures, and please consider using alternate routes.
