Maplewood NJ, A United States entertainer and businessman and a Malaysian financier were charged  in a four-count indictment unsealed today in the District of Columbia for conspiring to make and conceal foreign and conduit campaign contributions during the United States presidential election in 2012, announced Assistant Attorney General Brian Benczkowski of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division.

Ridgewood Emergency Services Preps for a busy May

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Emergency Services Acting Chief Ryan Savaria announced for the month of April , that RES responded to 147 EMS calls, 12 Special Operations Calls. For these responses, it accounts for 1337 volunteer hours donated to the Village. This does not include times for training, meetings and preparation for upcoming events. 

Chief Savaria stated that May will be a very busy month with all the planning for the Annual Ridgewood Memorial Day Run. Savaria stated that “we actually start planning, the week after the previous years run. Reviewing the events that occurred, the plans to update.

AG Grewal Announces Charges Against 19 Individuals in $11 Million Medicine for-Cash Insurance Fraud Ring

TRENTON NJ, Attorney General Gurbir S. Grewal and the Office of the Insurance Fraud Prosecutor (“OIFP”) today announced charges against 19 individuals for their alleged participation in an $11 million “medicine-for-cash” insurance fraud scheme that was run by a Manhattan pharmacy owner and operated across New York and New Jersey.

As alleged in the charging documents, the scheme exploited the fact that pharmacies that purchase prescription drugs from wholesalers or distributors can return those drugs for a partial refund if the drugs expire before being sold. Pharmacies can recoup up to 85 percent of the price they paid for the drugs.

Hudson County Woman Convicted of Slavery

Hoboken NJ, A Hudson County, New Jersey, woman was convicted today of charges of forced labor, alien harboring for financial gain, and marriage fraud, U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito and Assistant Attorney General Eric Dreiband of the Civil Rights Division announced.

Alia Imad Faleh Al Hunaity, a/k/a “Alia Al Qaternah,” 43, was found guilty on all counts of the indictment against her following a six-day trial before U.S. District Judge Robert B. Kugler in Camden federal court. The jury deliberated for two hours before returning the guilty verdicts.

HOLMDEL NJ, The high school teacher who was blamed for a yearbook censorship controversy in Wall Township in 2017 filed a motion in the Superior Court in Monmouth County on Thursday, seeking immediate relief from a Board of Education (BOE) policy that has blocked her from being able to tell her full story to the media.

In her original lawsuit filed on May 6, 2019, Susan Parsons alleged she was framed by members of the school administration as the person responsible for digitally altering a student’s 2017 yearbook photo to remove a “Trump: Make America Great Again” logo from his shirt, a narrative she was unable to refute due to an ongoing BOE media gag order.

Glen Rock NJ, thanks to the efforts of the Italian America One Voice Coalition Glen Rock has backed off on ,” Indigenous people day ” . The Borough Council voted down the move Wednesday night by a 7-0 vote , ending weeks of unwanted attention and ridicule  https://theridgewoodblog.net/we-are-all-in-favor-of-indigenous-peoples-day-as-long-as-it-includes-human-sacrifice/  .  The vote culminated an extended debate over the proposal.

“The unexpected surge in revenues the Governor is now claiming is the surge the Legislature expected when we imposed a 2.5 percent surcharge on the millionaire and billionaire corporations that benefited directly from the Republican Congress’ tax cut. It is the Corporation Business Tax surcharge we imposed that has been coming in far over the Administration’s revenue projections – just as the Legislature said it would.
