I don’t understand why high school students need assistance in this normal process? We all grow up, kide move on. It is normal and healthy.
Right – is this for special needs kids ?
Confused.
Great idea to assist special needs kids
Pittifully sad if “regular ed” students need this level of assistance.
This program is for primarily for students with special needs; however, there are typical learners who benefit from these services. The statistics on transition have not been positive over the past decade: While 70% of students try to go to college after high school, only 56% will graduate with a bachelor’s degree after 6 years. In New Jersey, only 35% of those pursuing an associate’s degree will end up graduating. Combine this with the fact that employment opportunities have dropped by over 20% for 17-24 year olds, and you have a recipe for disaster. We like to think that students can all transition on their own, but many require additional support. This program gives them a resource to reach out to for help.
