Twp. of Washington NJ, supply chain shortages effect local communities . Twp. of Washington is still waiting for the new Garbage truck the township ordered in July of 2021 . Word is the has been pushed back to spring of 2022 .
As the state of our nation continues to effect day to day operations on all levels, Washington Township is certainly not immune to its repercussions.
Back in June of 2021, I was grateful when the Council acknowledged and approved in this years budget the acquisition of additional garbage trucks needed to support the process of transporting leaves from Sherry Field to an offsite facility. The purchase order for these vehicles was placed in July 2021.
Unfortunately, due to a supply shortage, one of those trucks is is still on backorder awaiting release from the factory. We are now being told the second truck isn’t due to be sent to the factory until the spring of 2022. No additional information has been provided for either truck.
In an effort to temporarily solve the problem, we have rented a roll off truck which our hard working DPW are steadily utilizing to transport 3 – 4 borrowed containers to the Woodland Park facility daily. These efforts have amounted to approximately 120 – 160 yards of leaves.
Please know we are fully aware of the ongoing leaf issue at this time and continue to work towards a permanent solution to benefit all residents. I appreciate your time and support in these unforeseen circumstances and pray the fruits of our labor will pay off in the end having less debris and waste located on an already precious recreational location.
Sincerely,
Mayor Peter Calamari

Is there anything that’s not blamed on supply chain disruptions?
just another part of the ‘covid excuse’ for poor service and rising prices in every industry.
wait until your property taxes go through the roof since the CPI will go up due to BidINFLATIOn and all the unions public employees will get raises you will pay for
